How cute is this town!? Swinford is adorable and this restaurant in the hotel was outstanding. We were rolling down one of the main roads (N5)and my wife was looking for "restaurants nearby" on TripAdvisor app. We chose this place. We came in the afternoon, we may have been the last people to partake of an amazing buffet. The mashed potatoes, cauliflower the meat, everything was delicious, and you are NOT leaving hungry! The quality and quantity of food here was just an amazing value. My son ordered hot wings, they were great too. This much incredible, home-cook'in, stick to your ribs food cost us 64 euros, 6 people!! This may have been the best bang for our buck our entire trip. The waitresses were sweet too. If you're between Castlebar and Sligo, do yourself a big favor, and make the the stop to the Gateway Hotel Restaurant in Swinford.

Was staying there for a property deal . Hotel gave my private info to locals . Not happy at all, cost and profits lost say 200k . Went here with my husband and 4 kids.order came out all wrong which ment kids couldn't even eat as did ours and was dry nasty.were charged full amount and when I said it to young girl she said there was nothing she could do about it.......overpriced and inedible.avoid.

Called here en-route back to Dublin. I understand new owners. Place dated but service and sandwiches were very nice and well presented. Other food I saw delivered to other customers looked nice. Just needs an upgrade to match its food.

Stopped here this morning with my family. Excellent Service, especially from the young gentleman working who went out of his way to help; especially as we had our young son with us. Relaxed atmosphere, good breakfast and pleasant, helpful staff! Great place to stop if making a long journey as we were!

Really nice traditional exterior and interior to this restaurant. Set out in different separate areas. Very nice waiter served us, he was well presented in a white and black uniform. He was efficient, courteous, and friendly. There is a nice selection of food. I had the roast of the day, a coke. Coffee and cheesecake. The bill was â¬25 which was average pricing for the area.

We returned to Cellar Restaurant in the Step House yesterday for our wedding anniversary. The experience exceeded expectations (which were high to begin with). The food was exquisite, every dish a triumph. Great portions, wonderfully flavoursome and innovative as ever. The service as friendly as we remembered it. We had a baby with us and the staff looked after him as well as us - serving him a complementary baby bowl etc. A veritable fine dining experience at a mid-range price (â¬27 for 3 courses). The Christmas decorations looked as classy as ever too. It was a delight to return and I wish the Coady family the very best with the business. We will certainly be back again in 2019.

Popped in here for lunch as it is on the main route fron Galway to Sligo.It is a lovely, quaint and quirky cafe with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. The food, however, is slipping in quality from previous visits and the salad was tired and old. The menu is simple and could really use a little imagination. My tuna melt was little more than factory brown sliced bread with some stuff in it. Come on guys, how about a slice of wholemeal bread with grilled cheese on top and some farm house relish. I expect more from Ireland's vaunted Farm Fresh produce. This is a nice friendly spot and could be so much better. Finally, please fix the WC, one loo and no flush is just not acceptable!We'll try again, one more time!
