Tonight I had dinner with my mom at the Grand Cafe Zuidlaren, we both had the kogelbiefstuk, red wine from the house and cheesecake as dessert. It was around the 4th time for me to have dinner here. The location interior is simple but very nice and friendly. The consistent quality of the food is great and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable on what they serve, we absolutely enjoyed our evening!

Stopping over on a Friday night at Fletcher Zeegse, close to the Drenthe provincial capital Assen, we found that the Hotel offered also a very nice buffet-style dinner at a very affordable price.We found a good selection of dishes, making for interesting combinations (like cous-cous with brussels sprouts). But the topper was the meat - this was excellent. We almost forgot to leave room for a wide variety of desserts. More people knew or found out - the room was well filled, even though early february is not exactly high season.

What a lovely find in Groningen. Right by the water, the Harbour Cafe is larger than it looks. A perfectly small menu, out of Lobster and cod when we ordered at 8pm - a good sign that everything is fresh in daily!Our meal consisted of sharing a fish platter to start - beautifully fresh choice of smoked salmon, samphire salad, prawns, tuna with capers and fresh bread.My son opted for a rare steak, he said was perfectly cooked. My husband had turbot and and I had the amazing Bouilliabaise, jam packed with fish. The vegetables that accompanied all meals, were perfectly; fresh broad beans, fresh peas and samphire - did I mention how fresh it all was?Unfortunately we were too full for desserts but managed coffee instead.A lovely evening - visit soon if in Groningen.Thanks Jo! Visited the restaurant for a cup of coffee during a cycling trip on a sunny day. The view over the water and the hand driven ferry is just perfect. We had a good cappuccino for a very reasonable price. I could sit there for hours.
