I have lived here for several years, but have never tried La Merenda. It was on the top of my todo list. We tried tonight and it was delicious. A few favorites were the Chimichurri and Steak, the Risotto and the Blackberry Old Fashioned. The shrimp dumplings are just too spicy for our table. And for dessert, you cannot go wrong with the Creme Brulee! Great spot to sit outside, around a table and visit with friend-while getting served delicious food!

The dish was well presented. It did have all of the stated ingredients; Shrimp, Chicken, Andouille Sausage, Tomatoes, Peppers, Onions and Garlic Simmered in a Spicy Cajun Style Broth with Cream. Cream. I'm not sure where the "cream" comes in but it was not present. The Andouille Sausage was 4-5 small tasteless 3/4" slivers. Shrimp - I'm not sure there were more than 2-3 pieces. Chicken - LOTSTomatoes - LOTSPeppers - LOTSOnion - LOTSSpice - Mild to medium. It was flavorful but not anything special. I know I'm not in New Orleans but if it's on the menu ... it should taste like more than chicken vegetables and rice. I'll try another dish next time.We're very sorry you did not enjoy your meal during this visit. Next time, we suggest trying another part of our menu! My wife and I have dined here about 10 times now, sometimes with guests we have brought along, more often just the two of us. We have always been very favorably impressed with the superior quality of the ambience, the service, and of course the food. As for ambience, the single dining room is small and well appointed. The building looks like Old Milwaukee on the outside, but inside the restaurant looks like L.A. I personally hate loud dining rooms, and have never had a problem with the noise level here. There is an overall atmosphere of efficient professionalism throughout the place. The staff are all well trained, friendly and knowledgeable. The wait staff know all the details about the menuâs choices. The food is wonderful. We will keep coming back for sure.
