When I am travelling it is not often that I return to a restaurant, (however good) as time does not allow. However Cavas de Altura served superior steak, much much better than the up market restaurant in a close by square. Great selection of wine, and that is what I love about eating out in Bolivia. Sadly Bolivian wines are not available in UK, but I am working on that! In the mean time their steak here is First Class.

If you visit, after lunch, ask to be shown the older section of the home or the hotel area.

We ate 3 times at Gattopardo during our visit to Tarija. Waitress Gloria was wonderful and friendly. My pomodoro pasta dish was simple and delicious. The pizza was good but the crust was slightly soggy. The Caprese panini was rather odd, with a sort of cream cheese, something that looked like ketchup instead of sliced tomatoes. But the place is reliable and service is very good.
