The Saharan city of Nouakchott was a small fishing village until 1957, when Mauritania attained independence. The new capital city of a young country, Nouakchott has changed quite a bit since the Sixties, with mosques, government buildings, and street markets rising up out of the desert sand. Spread out over land that constantly being encroached upon by massive dunes, and inhabited by a nomadic people that don't keep their tents pitched in one place for very long, the city is always in flux.
Things to do in Nouakchott
This is a great place to have breakfast, lunch, or a coffee. The owner, Rita, is pleased to offer special orders for those who may have dietary restrictions such as vegetarian options. The menu consists of several different sandwiches that you cannot find elsewhere in Nouakchott. They also offer ice cream and beverages that are shipped in from Spain. Speciality drinks like the fruit smoothie or frappés are deliciously refreshing in the heat of Nouakchott.Thank you for the review and we are happy you had a pleasant experience...
Fish was nice and fresh. Food in general tasty. Ambience pleasant. I sat on the terrace and furniture was nice and comfortable. Service was excellent. Reasonably priced. Recommended.
Je recommande :Cordon bleu de boeufLangouste grilléEt surtout, Jus d'avocats!!!!! L'environnement est très bon avec belle vue de la mer (peinte sur le mur mais très joli).
Nouakchott Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Nouakchott
Let's start by saying this place has the BEST STEAK in town. It comes out on a 500 degree plate sizzling in butter. All the sides are phenomenal, definitely get the potato gratin, the sliced potatoes are cooked in a creamy sauce covered in cheese! The atmosphere is comfortable and I have had great waiters every time I've come. Would definitely recommend a reservation though!

Not cheap and a bit expensive is you choose entry, plate an dessert for many. Not overpriced compared to Nouakchott however, and the food is of good taste and quality. A little more efforts should be done to have more pastries for dessert.

I liked the place for its both the food and environment in Nouakchott. The environment is good with its pictures of popular places and people. I loved the TVs as well for getting to watch football or breaking news during your meal. They have free wifi as well.
