Chef Jennifer Jasinski's creatively inspired Mediterranean food is influenced by local seasonal products. Rioja is simple, pure food that emphasizes bright flavors & textures. The wines are a collection of fun interesting varietals that compliment the cui
This restaurant has good food, a top location with a nice street deck at the trendy (i.e. expensive) eating end of Larimer St and for years has called itself Rioja â when the name of the north-central Spanish Denominación de Origen has very little to do with what they serve either on a plate or by the glass. Why? How many people arrive like us, having traipsed around Denver seeking a Spanish restaurant with tapas and Rioja wines, to discover this is in fact a Southwest take on Mediterranean cuisine with only about three or four actual references to Spain on its food menus. And even though there are Rioja wines on the Wine List, at a premium, by the bottle, there are only three Rioja wines available by the glass â and one of them is a white, not exactly Riojaâs most renowned product. I would humbly suggest the far better alternative of including a good value 100% Verdejo from Rueda among the Spanish whites available by the glass. Why doesnât the award-winning chef-owner offer delightful Rioja cuisine, as the name of the restaurant suggests? The Rioja region is actually closer to the Atlantic than the Mediterranean. And is renowned not just for its wines but also for its own Riojana dishes as well as the world famous cuisine of its neighbors in the Basque Country. Rioja gastronomy is more San Sebastian than Barcelona. Having got over the shock of being tricked into coming to Denverâs unique take on Rioja, we swallowed our pride and sampled the Rioja Ontañón blanco and the white Lagar de Costa Albariño. Each glass cost more than the US retail price of one of these bottles. And Rioja wines are normally considered some of the worldâs best value for money wines. Clients here might form a different opinion. Food wise we ate a nice lamb burger, as good as any offered in North Carolina, and a tasty Falafel Wrap.

EDGE, the signature restaurant of Four Seasons Hotel Denver led by Executive Chef Simon Purvis, offers an extensive wine selection and menu highlighting Colorado-ranched beef and locally sourced ingredients. Enjoy signature dishes such as Free-Range Bould
This is an excellent, expensive restaurant. They have a prix-fixe pre-theater dinner which is a good value. Menu is imaginative. The steaks are as good as any we have had anywhere. Service is tops. Cocktails are well made. Wine list is expensive but very high-end. I would say there are no âvalueâ wines. A mistake but solved by spending money. The two cautions:1. The room is very loud. No soundproofing. Because it is loud (we were there on a Saturday night), everyone seemed to yell to communicate with table mates. Makes things worse. 2. We had a table by the big windows. We had an excellent view of a number of members of Denverâs large homeless community. While Denverâs leaders are eager to make glib foreign policy pronouncements, they have demonstrated zero ability to humanely solve the extensive homelessness problem. Bottom line: donât sit near the windows.

Pub food gone international.
We came here for late bites after attending a concert at the nearby Pepsi Centre. At first we were taken back by the menu and didnât think there was much that fit our late night cravings. We stayed and had a good chicken sandwich, the classic pickles starter and duck wings. There were some good beer options on tap and a lot of beers by the bottle. The place was noisy largely because people had to talk over the load music. We got what we were after.
