Came here randomly for lunch as I was on a lunch break from working out in Huntington Beach. I really loved the name of the place. At first it was a little hard to tell if they were open or not, but Trip Advisor said they were, so I went in and was so suprised to see the place packed! That's always a good sign. I just had the Kale salad, which was amazing. I'm not ususally into salads too much (especially Kale), but my waiter told me it was one of his favorites so I gave it a try. Yum Yum! It was very good & I was very impressed! So 2 thumbs up for Black Trumpet!!

We have a tradition every new year's eve: eat at a place we've never been to. Since we were going to have additional family along this time, and in an area we were unfamiliar with, I wanted to find a place that would appeal to the greatest number of palettes. I made a reservation online, and then we all met there.We arrived first and saw that they had reserved a high-top for our party of 8. Not the most comfortable of spots. When asked if we could switch out to a regular table, they said they didn't have a spot for us. (A few minutes after our entire party arrived, they ended up setting up a table for 8 on regular tables.)My wife, daughter, and I ordered all different items so we could try each other's meals, and we're glad we did. My wife had the halibut, which is what I was originally thinking I wanted to get, but after trying it, it wasn't exactly what I would have liked and was a bit dry. My daughter's flat iron steak was quite good, and the sauces were okay, the chimichurri being kind of boring, but the blue cheese was good. The star of the table was my beef short ribs over garlic mashed potatoes. They were succulent and tender, and the sauce was perfect. My grandfather was also quite happy with his Shrimp with noodles. The rest of the table was mixed about their meals.With a table of 8, the service was as expected and just fine. Service from the bar was quite good.

The service was poor, the room was loud, noisy, and cold atmosphere. The clientele were mostly around 25-40 years old. There were two areas both with tables but one side was a bar/TV area. Never saw dessert on the menu and never was offered any by server so I guess they did not have any. Four of us ate; we had three NY steaks and one short rib meal. The meat and the twice baked potato were good. The charcuterie was very good, meats, bread, cheese, and the balsamic mushrooms were amazing. The steak dinner only came with the potato, no salad, and no vegetable, these had to be ordered separately. The meals were expensive for just a potato and meat. The server set the check on the table in the middle of our meal not asking if we wanted anything else. We thought this was very rude. We probably will not go again.

We went for pizza, but they either have too thin cracker-type crust or too thick. So I got a small thick crust just to taste it because I had heard BJs had good pizza. But I was not impressed at all. I also ordered a salad that was delicious except for the uncooked/old/impossible to cut Brussels sprouts. The waiter offered to bring new sprouts and I accepted, but they were the same. My partner had ribs and said they were very good. The venue is very nice. But I would not return to eat here since there are so many other places in HB.
