Reviews on International food in Haarlem, North Holland Province, The Netherlands. Though often overshadowed (especially for tourists) by its much larger and more famous neighbor Amsterdam about ten miles east, Haarlem’s history actually goes back further. And with about 150,000 people, it’s the capital of the Noord-Holland region. The Teylers Museum, with its unique collection of art and artifacts, is the oldest museum in the Netherlands. The fantastic Frans Hals Museum has many works by the artist and other Haarlem schoolers. Grote Markt, the main town square, is a must-see.

We stopped a quick coffee at this lovely spot in a side street. The lady was super friendly. Coffee was fabulous with a mini waffle on the side. We watched the passing traffic like real locals.

The town of Haarlem is lovely with lots of small shops to explore. But find the restaurant Brick and experience the 3 course surprise menu! Each dish was presented in a wonderful manner and delicious. The wine was also fairly priced. The service was efficient and friendly and you got to see the chefs create, while they also acknowledged you too. It is a small place so call for a reservation. One of my highlights of our trip!

Authentic urban Frenchy bistro offering great French wines at surprisingly affordable prices, lobsters, dry aged beef and oysters.
We had just got off the canal boat trip, heading back to our rental apartment, we were starving, my wifeâs eagle eyes spotted oysters on a menu outside the restaurant, a quick word with one of the staff and in we went, we had table 1, on 13.12.2018 at about 1pm, our server was very welcoming and friendly, she was very knowledgeable about the menu, she recommended great wine to go with my wifeâs oysters and her steak tartare, she also helped me with a local beer to go with my risotto, and condiments for our childâs food, she went out of her way to help us find our next destination, a great experience thanks to her. I am so sorry I do not know her name, she was not wearing a badge and she is not mentioned on the receipt, many thanks.

Come to restaurant Petossi, in the old city centre of Haarlem, and experience the new modern Dutch cuisine by formal Masterchef winner Bart van Berkel. Bart's "Chefs menu" is inspired by international flavors and Dutch local products of the season. Surpri
I am a visual artist and feel like this was art for my pallet. Dining at Petossi was a wonderful surprise in that each bite was an adventure in flavours and aromas. The composition of flavours, colours and textures was beautiful, surprising and complete with well thought-out combinations. What I especially appreciated was the use of classical Dutch ingredients in contemporary ways. We asked for the wines selected by the host to complement each dish and this added to the enjoyment. Needless to say the service was friendly, warm and exceedingly professional. I felt truly spoiled!

We serve a tasting menu with a choice of 4 (tue, wed, thu),5,6 or 7 courses and additional cheeses. We try to source as much local ingredients as we can but like to implement International flavors to our dishes too. Our menu can change on a weekly base, d
We had a wonderful night: the food was absolutely delicious and the wine pairing was good too. However, we were dissapointed that while we had a set menu with a set price incl a wine pairing arrangement, the night ended with an extremely high bill: pricewise similar to a ** Michelin star dinner. While we had some surplus items that were mentioned as such (the truffel on the meat dish and an appetizer), we did not get a heads up on the surplus on the dessert wine (we were under the assumption this would be included in the wine pairing menu we were on) and other 'unmentioned' surplus items. Should we have paid more attention? Maybe. But it does leave us with an unsettled feeling and eventhough we did enjoy the night, the food, service and ambiance: the unfortunate conslusion is we won't be back.
