It is the regional centre of the Northern Great Plain region and the seat of Hajdú-Bihar county. It was the largest Hungarian city in the 18th century and it is one of the Hungarian people's most important cultural centres. Debrecen was also the capital city of Hungary during the revolution in 1848–1849. During the revolution, the dethronement of the Habsburg dynasty was declared in the Reformed Great Church. The city also served as the capital of Hungary by the end of the World War II in 1944–1945. It is home of the University of Debrecen.

Outstanding staff, very courteous knowledgeable and helpfulThe food is excellent, complex and really interesting traditional Hungarian food served beautifully, not too heavy, and in ideal portion sizes.The cost was very reasonable at USD35 per head for 2 courses and wineVery pleasant outside with the ability to watch people en promenade.

Okay food but not great. We were especially disappointed by the quality of the daily menu. Although the quality tends to fluctuate. Pastas are overpriced. Since it has a great location and a very cheap daily menu option, I still give it a good rating. The interior design and the terrace is truly unique and pleasant. Staff can be completely cold and inattentive, sometimes even rude. Service is an important factor when visiting a restaurant, unfortunately we left feeling unsatisfied. Then again, other times both the service and the food was good. In conclusion, I don't expect any consistency from this restaurant.

The staff prepared a chocolate cake with a candle for our Birthday man and the people around our table cheered Happy Birthday, which made our evening very special. The food is amazing, the portions are big, and there is such a large variety of meals, from Mexican to Thai, to Hungarian to Argentinian steaks, and more. The homemade ice teas (which taste more like lemonades) are served in big 500 ml glasses, and are nicely decorated. The schnitzel meal consists of 2 large pieces of schnitzel and homemade pasta is delicious.

The restaurant recently opened at a location where there were only below-average eateries in the past. It is situated at a busy state road that collects traffic to the city from the northern directions. The fresh new design inside, and the bistro-style menu gives the visitor a hint about some radical changes. The creative dishes, the attentive service of the young, motivated staff raises the place to the top level of the regionâs restaurants. A young, but award-winning chef takes responsibility to the exciting food creations (âasparagus foam with grilled goat cheeseâ, âshrimp in an airbagâ, âduckliver sauce with vanillaâ, âhazelnut coated salmonâ, etc. and the delicious traditional dishes, all with a twist (brassoi style pork, wienerschnitzel) . The prices are affordable, they also carry a set menu every day.

I visited this place while I was staying in Debrecen for short them. They had great panini and toasts with different types of options that you can add to; I really enjoyed their food and coffee. Its atmosphere is more or less like cafeteria in university. However, I personally think that their foods are a bit overpriced considering it's just a regular toast and it's located within the university campus. I can easily order or dine out with similar/higher quality of foods but larger in quantity wise and would still pay the same or less.

Maszek has excellent food, fantastic/relaxed ambiance, and a bartender worth her weight in gold and an usually well-stocked bar.Her Amaretto Sour was a new and wonderful take on an old classic. We could smell the fresh orange zest from several feet away. Service was slow but very worth it.

Dinner meal, well presented tasty food with a good wine. All top class. Only negative was the staff, seemed like they didn't want us there. Need to go back to waiter school to learn the basics of customer service. Its the little things that count!
