I visited this place on Friday and hoping for some nice dance and drinks. I could manage to get some nice drinks and food. But dancing was tough as entire cafe was crowded. Less place to move around. Music is pretty amazing. Overall it's a great place. Mainly locals like to hangout this place.

The Countess is an authentic American diner smokehouse combination. The steampunk interior is fun and cozy. We source the best ingredients and make everything ourselves, even the ketchup. We have a quirky and relaxed atmosphere and pride ourselves on frie
What a nice treat at Melvilleâs 27 Boxes. The Countess is certainly a big draw card in this center. With an extensive list of artisanal drinks, as well as interesting bistro type dishes, there truly is a delicious morsel for everyone. The plating and presentation is very creative and feels easy and relaxed. Amid this quirky cool space, have a small bite or a share board with interesting people.
Beautiful outdoor seating. Menu offers a great variety. Enjoyed breakfast... loved... the French toast with bacon ... one of the best I have eaten. A variety of cakes on display for eleven oâclock tea... a little box of pure delight. Going back... for sure.. âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸. Service impeccable.

Firstly the concept is very cool. Transforming the old mens toilet of the joburg station into a restaurant is such a crazy cool idea. The old urinals are used as rows of seats (not super practical since you have to lean forward to have a conversation) and the place has been done up in a very creative way. The owner was on hand and very kind and enthusiastic. The fire-eating show was also quite entertaining. My partner enjoyed the food more than me. I felt it was a bit stodgy and too rich and possibly with more focus on the presentation and concept than the actual taste. Maybe I just enjoy lighter fresher food. The amuse-bouche of a weird candy orb full of crushed nuts, some olives and a bucket of popcorn was a low point. The starter of snails and mushrooms was the best of the meals. The bouillabaisse didn't have a lot of flavour and was too large a portion for a second starter. The mains - a take on a victorian fest - was tasty but very very rich and by then we were very full. My wife did say that she loved the pork wing. The crepe suzette desert was too sweet and & would have loved something a little lighter and fresher by then. The biggest issue was the speed at which the courses were presented and without really checking if diners were ready for the next course. Apparently everyone had to eat at the same time - so we had a 45 minute wait before the starters arrived (fine after the large amuse bouche) but then the courses just kept coming. The promised break between mains and desert to watch the show didn't happen and we had hardly finished the massive mains when the equally large and sweet desert arrived. By 21h45 it was all over. I think portion size, pacing and getting really striking flavours on the plate are what's needed for a multi course fine dining experience and this place struggles on those fronts. It seems to be more of a function venue so I guess its set up for that, but i felt quite uncomfortableby the end of the evening and needed a long walk to settle down.

Marble offers Joburg diners something different â not just a plate of food, but a theatre of experience. Marble celebrates the quintessential South African tradition of cooking on fire â and not just meat, but all types of ingredients cooked on coals â in
Found the restaurant on google and based on the website, we decided to celebrate birthday's. Being from Durban, the restaurant was slightly difficult to find based on WAZE. Parking is very inconvenient as we had to walk in heels to the restaurant which was a good walk away. Upon the elevator doors opening, the restaurant is beautiful, well lit and spacious. we where escorted to our table and asked immediately to place our drink orders. Once the drinks arrived we where asked to place our orders. the waiter insisted we place our starters and mains at the same time. We asked the waiter for his suggestions and ironically he pushed the most expensive meals down our throat, R900 for a steak sheesh dairy cow or not that is a bit much! However we managed to order what WE wanted. The prawn and avo starter is absolutely amazing and is a must try, for my main i had the sirloin steak, was not the greatest but was good. The dessert menu then came, and i had to remind the waiter that we where celebrating two birthdays'. I made a reservation and sent a follow up email to confirm this. I was a bit annoyed with having to remind the waiter that we were celebrating a birthday in front of the people who where celebrating their birthdays. We received ice cream with a card. We also had the ice cream cookie, nothing extraordinary, but the cinnamon meringue is amazing.Visit for the experience, and Instagram photo but nothing would really make me want to return.

A stalwart of the Rosebank scene. I've visited here on many occasions while visiting Joburg. Good mixed menu of burger/salad/grill type options, in a buzzy setting at the heart of the mall. A classic brunch spot too and great for people watching. Service always friendly, but can be a little slow, especially when busy.

Creative menu that will satisfy any foodie, making use of seasonal/local ingredients, presented beautifully by a chef who obviously takes pride in his work. He made a point of visiting our table when we arrived. We stayed at the hotel and liked the food so much we ate at the restaurant every night rather than venturing out. We couldn't imagine finding better elsewhere!Dear gmw725, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. It's lovely reading how you enjoyed your time and Clico and we proud to hear how you enjoyed the meals and that you got to meet our Chef. Who is indeed a very creative chef. We look forward to having you back with us real soon. Kind RegardsJaco Wheeler

The menu was good, and the ambience was great, but the highlight of our lunch was really the Waitron. Such an absolute pleasure! He was knowledgeable and witty and had an amazing sense of humour. He also suggested beautiful dishes that were the highlight of our meal!
