Reviews on International food in Bhutan, Bhutan. Remote Bhutan first allowed the world a peek inside in 1974. With four millennia of habitation, the Himalayan kingdom offers a trove of archaeological treasures, including many ornate temples and dzong fortresses. Isolation has preserved the heavily Buddhist-influenced culture of the last Shangri-La.

Mom and Pop place run by a hard-working young couple. She cooks FANTASTICALLY!!! OMG! I couldnât believe we found this after our hotel buffet was awful. We went for 4 meals our 2 days in Jakar. Spinach balls were delish, moist chicken, fresh pappadams. Best beef my husband had. Yum! We brought our own wine and beer which they were happy to open and serve. Just up from the Post Office in Jakar town, worth finding. Not at all expensive. Very attentive service. And our guide and driver gave the chili cheese 10 out of 10! Hey, if the locals like it you know itâs good.

This place is reasonable for Lunch for tourists, and especially for Bhutanese Cuisine. The menu is not priced high. Overall Good experience.
We only had one lunch (Ã la carte) and that was quite alright. 3x breakfast & dinner were average at best. Neither the variety was sufficient nor was the taste upto the mark. There are no issues with the service though.

We came here because we wanted to try the restaurants outside of our pre-arranged itinerary. This restaurant is centrally located in Thimphu, and has a modern interior with about 10 tables. The restaurant served Italian, Chinese and Thai food. All of the dishes we ordered were Chinese and Thai but not too different from the food we had been eating in Bhutan in terms of flavor and variety. Price was very reasonable, but we were the only customers during the whole night.
Bhutanese cuisine has limited dishes and they tend to get monotonous to the uninitiated. However, Penden will make you come back always. Their Emma Datshi which is the Bhutanese national dish with cheese and chilly , is superb. Dont miss their Saag Datshi which is leafy vegetable with cheese and Kewa Datshi, the simple potato in cheese , are all superb. The view from the first floor restaurant of the quaint Haa town center is relaxing.

There were varieties of food choices for this cafe. Good vibe and great staff and service. I and my mother ordered Chicken fingers with potato chips, Pita bread with Hummus, and Lemon tart. The lemon tart was very nice. However, Chicken finger was quite dry and Hummus was quite tasteless. However, I liked it a lot. The price was quite costly but worth the cost though.Dear Panini_poonie,Thank you for your review of O Cafe, we are sorry the food fell short of your expectation we appreciate you letting us know as it is the only way we can improve. We were very happy to note that you enjoyed our lemon tart. Please do come again.Regards

We had three different datsis, ema, hentse and shuma. All three were wonderful. We also had veg momos and cheese momos. We could tell they were freshly made, so tasty The red rice was delicious also. The manager and staff are so nice. We definitely would return.

This popular restaurant features Bhutanese cuisine with some Indian dishes. It is often filled to capacity at lunch and dinner - it is very popular among Bhutanese locals and some expats. It is somewhat hidden away on the main street and would be a good r
A good budget restaurant at market place. Good Chinese and Indian food at affordable price with adequate quantity served. Service is ok. Didn't tried Bhutan food here but lot of local people were also present. Looks like busy place.

unless you sit by the two fireplaces. the place was amazing and surrounded by trees. food was very good and the pastries were excellent over christmas. but when we returned after christmas quality went down a little (and pastries went down considerably?), not sure why. service was all good. must try its range of beers. if they could warm up the place a little in the winter, it would be perfect.
