Reviews on Indonesian food in Tomohon, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Tomohon is a city in North Sulawesi Province (Sulawesi Utara), in central Indonesia. Tomohon was a part of the Minahasa Regency in North Sulawesi. There was a time when the inhabitants felt the necessity of upgrading the status of their residence into an autonomous city on behalf of its approach to community service. Tomohon officially became a city in 2003 by the passage of the Act of Republic Indonesia No. 10 of 2003 about the establishment of South Minahasa Regency and Tomohon city within North Sulawesi Province and was inaugurated on August 4, 2003. Tomohon is known for flower planting at people's homes. Nearby is the volcano Gunung Lokon or Mount Lokon and Mount Empung. Tomohon is also known for wooden-house production, palm-sugar (aren ) production, vegetable agriculture, as a center of Christian Ministry, and as a student town.

Bakso paling enak di Tomohon sejauh ini. Bukan hanya warung bakso, tapi nasi goreng dan lain lain juga ada.. Pisang Goreng Roanya bikin nagih. Enak Bangeeeet.. Untuk bakso, bakso tulangnya juara..
Tomohon has no big choices to get a pizza. The ones you can order at House of Kitty are really not bad.
*cozy place with Wood and Garden theme, rustic design *International and traditional food are available *you can enjoy the fresh air with beautiful Lokon montain view *easy to find. Our restaurant placed at the main road
This restaurant is a bit out of the city and located at Woloan where they build the wooden houses. I visited this small and unique restaurant several times. They offer delicious fresh fruit juices and I recommend their ribs. Really fantastic. All meals for reasonable prices.

If you are a little adventurous with your food I highly recommend it as a good experience. If you are not keen to eat cart-style food in Asia then this is definitely not the place for you.You are presented with a number of bowls of food in the centre of the table and there is a fixed price per head - whether you choose to eat it or not. You serve from the central bowls to your own plate as desired. This is true Minahasan cuisine, local to the area. So it's a good idea to make sure you know what is in your bowls before you eat it if you are squeamish. The price is extremely reasonable. The food was great and we partook of all the vegetables, conventional animals and the snails but we avoided eating the dog.Afterwards the owner gave us a bit of the locally brewed and distilled palm wine which was great with a smooth finish and similar to a good vodka. Much better than the palm wine from the supermarkets which is pretty disgusting even when mixed with coke!Thank you so much for your generous review, we hope to see you again..cheersRegards,Heng Mien
With Mt. Lokon as a background, this is a place for you if you want to have a break from the bustling city. The man-made background for photos are really amazing and the nature surrounding the place had a soothing effect that will certainly make you come back again. It was pretty crowded when I visited because it is a holiday. The food that they are offering are also affordable. The entrance fee is 5000 Rupiah and it is worth it.
I lived in Tomohon for 9 months, and after traveling and trying tons of local restaurants, this one hands down has the best fish and rica-rica / dabu-dabu / sambal spicy sauce, in the region and even Indonesia. The fresh water fish is grown right there in the surrounding man-made lake. Its fresh, its delicious, cannot be missed.

This restaurant located in the beautiful garden with panoramic view to Lokon Mountain. They have oriental, western and local food menu. We went on holiday season ( Hari Raya Lebaran), its full and serve us very long, but its ok, we can wait, relax and enjoy beautiful garden and fishpond.
We spend a very nice evening here. The beef steak with black pepper and the one with mushroom are very good, especially for western food in Indonesia. The location as well as the staff are also very lovely.A place I could really recommend.

We had a lunch at this lakeside restaurant. It's possible to sit just by the water so you can enjoy nice scenery. Our dishes were nothing special, we also ordered banana fritters - the signature dish of D-Linow. Those were good but we experienced better in Indonesia. Not expensive. Local crowds flock to this place so be prepared for some waiting.
