I have been to Indians all around the country in fact all around the world and I have to say the food at the downham tandoori cannot be beaten . Add to that friendly service and a lovely atmosphere it really is a great place . Canât recommend it enough .
I want to start a campaign. Bring back bones! When Indian restaurants first appeared in this country - and, regrettably, Iâm old enough to remember - they were all the same. Dark red walls, a bar at the far end and individual tables with white tablecloths along both sides, with obsequious, long-suffering waiters, who would pull out a table with a flourish when you arrived. A couple would always sit next to one another along the walls. Some long standing traditions remain. Papadums are served first together with a rotating pickle tray, which is removed before you really need it - with the food. A biryani always comes with a vegetable curry, and takeaways always include a salad in a plastic bag, which makes them easy to throw away. In those early days, a chicken curry would always be served on the bone unless you paid extra for âoff the boneâ, but when did you last see those words on a menu? Probably never, and you donât know what youâre missing! To find out, order a takeaway from Taste of Paradise and include the chefâs special dish âStaff Chickenâ. The name tells it all; itâs the way they would eat a chicken curry and itâs heavenly - but make sure you donât eat the bones!Indeed, everything weâve ordered from Taste of Paradise is delicious and made in an Indian traditional way instead of an English Indian traditional way. This takeaway also serves other types of food, which is unusual for such good food, but donât let that put you off, but I do have two criticisms. They charge a fee for credit cards, which is wrong, and they charge for delivery, which is very annoying. We always tip the driver anyway! We shall, however, continue to order from Taste of Paradise, because thatâs what they provide.

I visited mid week and took up the £10.95 deal that got you a starter, a main, a veg side dish, Rice and a Naan Bread.Chicken Chaat starter was excellent and fresh. The lamb Korai was just right, it had excellent flavour. And both the rice and Naan complemented the main.Excellent value at £10.95, you had the whole menu to choose from. Ordinarily with these deals, you are set to certain dishes. But not this one.The place wasn't busy when I went in, but the phone was busy and they shifted some amount of take away.Only mark against the place was the state of the pint of Fosters that arrived. It was way off. I went into large bottles of Cobra after that. My error, but I'd suggest sticking to the bottled drinks in the place.

Village pub serving great Beers, Ales, Wines & Spirits. Home cooked food. Warm and cosy atmosphere with great company. We serve food on Wednesday & Friday evenings.
Made a return visit the the Bell this Sunday. We met with various family members, old and young and enjoyed a very good carvery. The Landlord was on his usual jovial form and entertained us throughout the visit. The Pork and Beef was cooked perfectly with some awesome crackling (though not enough!) and there was virtually an unlimited supply of roast potatoes and Parsnips, carrots, peas, cabbage, cauliflower cheese, the list goes on......really nice dinner and at £8.50 a head, great value too!Puddings are all home made and looked amazing.Place was busy as ever, and judging by the food and the very warm welcome, its easy to see why.

Nice place featured on TV
It was our first visit to this Indian after our regular place in KIngs Lynn had consistently been disappointing us. The starters mains and side dishes were absolutely excellent all very authentic and not from a bought in Jar of sauce! However upon leaving we said goodnight to the two members of staff at the bar area and we were completely ignored!! It put us right of going back with such poor manners, they were both pre occupied in counting out the money! The only person who deserves credit for her hard work and great smile is the young foreign (polish?) girl and sets a good example to the others

Haven't been to the restaurant for about 6 years as don't live nearby, and went for a special occasion. The food was absolutely excellent, the place was buzzing and so lovely to see familiar faces of the staff there. We shall absolutely not leave it so long next time.

Mehmaan Rustic Indian Restaurant is an authentic Indian food and not fusion like all other restaurant. All our ingredient are fresh and freshly prepared even chicken, lamb and fish we served are fresh and not frozen, as we believe in quality and not quant
We visited this restaurant after staying away for 18 months having previously been disappointed by the state of the toilets and the attitude of 1 waiter. The food at this restaurant was excellent as always but we were sadly let down again by the service and condition of the toilets. We booked a table for 7.30 but we arrived early although we were seated immediately and served papadums and drink we had to wait 45 minutes for our starter and a further half an hour for main course even though there were only four tables with people on ,when we requested coffee and desserts we were told we close early on a Sunday (it was 9.40 and restaurant closes at 10.30)and coffee machine is switched off.He told us they had no ice cream only Indian dessert .When one of our party protested that we had booked in advance and how they could have not have coffees he walked over to the coffee machine and said it's okay its still on ,knowing full well it was as he was in charge. After leaving a generous tip due to excellent food ,outdide lights were switched off before we got to the door leaving us stumbling in the dark.
