Booked a table for 4 a week in advance for a birthday meal. on arrival they seemed to have trouble funding booking. Shown to a nice table and waited about 20 mins for someone to take our order. The popadoms came out promptly but we then waited and waited. Eventually dinner plates were brought and promptly taken away when they realised we hadn't had starters. I had ordered vegetables stuffed peppers but when they came they were chicken. I was so hungry I said it didn't matter and ate then ( lucky i 'm not vegetarian or vegan). Had to ask 4 times for another bottle of wine. Waited again for our main courses. After about half an hour we asked how long ? And were told they were ready but after another 15 mins we said forget it and asked for bill. To add insult to injury they tried to charge us double for the wine! No apologies or explanations offered. We were there for over 2 hours and only had starters.

My husband and I have been customers of Rajnagar since it opened, we love their cooking and the warm welcome we receive when we visit the restaurant. Having said this, we got a takeaway delivered to us at home on Tuesday night, and the chef had done wonders! We had the Lamb Saag, Sag Aloo and Chicken Bhuna; they were absolutely perfect even more delicious than usual. Fantastic!!

We ate here on a Saturday night, the friendly staff showed us to a nice table. Advice on type and spice content of the choice of curry on offer. The food was really good as was the service. This is a bring your own alcohol restaurant. We both really enjoyed our choices and will definitely be back.

Stylish Indian, high quality cuisine in a cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Many will be familiar with the original Simla restaurant which has been within our family since 1981. The Simla has now re-opened, totally renovated with a refreshed look and feel and
First visit here to this restaurant and Newcastle whilst visiting our son who is studying hereLovely interior and atmosphere and the staff were very pleasant Good choice on the menu although not as vast as your âaverageâ menu but the choices were very variedThe poppadoms were small in a basket which was much better than a large whole one and the choice of sauces with it were delicious My husband chose a lamb shank rogan josh which he loved and son had a lamb biryani which he also loved Me and daughter in law had a chicken tikka masala and to be fair it was the nicest one weâve ever had anywhere and the basmati rice was lovely alsoNeed to book here as everyone coming in behind us were being turned away and there is nowhere to wait in here at allYou get given an hour and a half time slot which is ok when itâs busy Will definitely return when next in Newcastle

A friendly place to treat yourself to healthy, fresh, delicious vegan Indian street food and drinks, all lovingly made to taste just like the chaat dishes you will find on the street stalls across the subcontinent. Sit and chat with a chai while you enjoy
This snack food outlet is one of the many delights of Grainger Market. We stop here often and are never disappointed. There is a small menu of freshly made, well spiced, Indian street food - all vegan. It's very tasty food that is also guilt-free. Even the plates and cutlery are chosen to have minimum carbon footprint. The whole place has care for your body, your spirit and our planet as core values. Yummy and very good value for money.

Relaxed Authentic Punjabi Dining
I organised my wifes birthday party here. We were looked after by owner himself and two staff. The team was very friendly and welcoming. They looked after our guests very well. The food served was warm and on time for 40+ guests. Everyone enjoyed the food, especially the non-vegetarian dishes were delicious. All our guests were extremely happy with the service. Would definitely go again.

I visited here for the first time as I had heard lots of good things and was passing it on my route home. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the staff were all welcoming and friendly throughout our evening. The menu was smaller than most however this was not a problem as there was still plenty to choose from and a note on the menu to say that you could ask for other dishes. The food was pleasant on the eyes as it was so well presented and more importantly it all tasted absolutely delicious! My partner and I left feeling satisfied and full up, I would recommend this restaurant and definitely return again.
