Since opening in 1982, Spice Merchant Cookham (formerly Cookham Tandoori) has earned a superb reputation for fine Indian cuisine in Berkshire. As the eldest restaurant in the group, Cookham initiated the success for Spice Merchant Group and continues to d
After our last visit some time ago we were reluctant to re-visit as going back to a 5star place often disappoints, it didn't at all.Warm welcome into a busy place, slightly different choices on the menu so it took sometime to order but they were patient on a busy evening when others would want to rush you through to get the next people in.Reasonably priced drinks wine very drinkable. The starters looked overpriced and we thought they were cashing in on the good reviews but when they arrived the size of the chicken portions took us back. Each of us had three large pieces of chicken enough to constitute a main portion. We tasted each others and both thought the meals were excellent each had its own taste and was really fresh tasting.Mains and side came in a reasonable amount of time. Again the quality of the food was excellent. The tandoori roti was impressive and everything else was beautifully presented and cooked. The quality of the ingredients stands out whether its the tender chicken or lamb, the excellent spices or simple things like the bread. We will return, yes, but probably on a weekday evening when they are not quite so busy.Dear GreyTrippers,Thanks so much for your thorough review- your comments are really appreciated.Itâs always so nice to hear feedback from returning customers. We look forward to your next visit.Kind regards,Spice Merchant Group

Been going there off and on for years, so took the missus along for dinner. Owner always friendly but the staff left a lot to be desired. None Indian girl serving there immediately told us she couldnât stand working there as the mainly male staff treated her really badly which was a great start. She disappeared to be replaced by a cocky and sarcastic younger Indian guy who served us in slow motion, small portions of average food and made sarcastic comments when we asked for a bottle of wine. Bottled water was 30p supermarket water sold at triple price. As we left he made another comment which shocked the missus who vowed that weâd never go back again. Shame as Iâve been going there since before it was Chutneys..

We called in here for a meal after visiting Cliveden and from the moment we opened the door the welcome was friendly. The new owners have refurbished the place and are great hosts. We ate a delicious meal - there is a decent choice on the menu and the portion sizes were perfect.

What a let down. £45 for the smallest array of Indian food ever. £4 per king prawn grilled. Main meal chicken tikka half of what you get elsewhere. King prawn puri a joke. I have had bigger tacos than what they serve. Not going back there again anytime soon. Sorry you felt it expensive for your liking. When you were given the menu , the prices are clearly indicated along with portionage size in the discription . You had a choice of leaving if you felt it was too expensive, but you continued to stay and order . We have been established for over 18 years and the prices and portion size has not changed for nearly 12 years. Given the condition of the present climate , with rising costs of all food items , we think thatâs very fair and consistent.Maybe you prefer Mexican cuisine as your preferred choice ?Have a good day.Thank you.

Vivasa is an authentic Indian restaurant, serving both South Indian and North Indian cuisine. Vivasa is a word of Sanskrit origin, meaning âSun Godâ. And a feast is what we intend to offer you. A feast of tastes, a feast of sights, and a feast of delightf
Yesterday was my first visit to Vivasa and the food server was authentic Indian one. We had North Indian dishes even though they serve both. We had a vegetarian starter platter of samosa, onion rings and paneer and I was not disappointed, rather I was delighted. For the mains, we ordered Dal Makhni, Bhendi and Mixed veg and asked them to make them spicy. Had these with Roti and Jeera rice and my taste buds were quite pleased to have tasted such a good food. My meat-eating friends were happy with their dishes too. Will certainly visit the restaurant again!

The Akash is one of three Indian restaurants in Burnham High Street, located at the bottom closest to Burnham Park. The restaurant itself was renovated fairly recently and now offers a relaxing atmosphere with seating interspersed with screens to give some privacy. The food too has been revamped. Still the same staples of Indian cuisine, but presentation is of a higher standard than the usual Indian restaurant. Our meals were served piping hot. My only gripe was my biriyani was a little bland, but I would definitely come back and try a spicier dish next time !Thank you for your valuable feedback. Here at Akash we have been serving freshly cooked food for more than 38 years for our guests and we take feedback seriously always improving our standards and maintaining our quality, our experienced team are always here to help choose the right dishes if your unsure if you would like a spicy or non spicy,Our street food range are very popular if it after a different taste.Thank you look forward to seeing you again

We got exactly what we ordered. which is rare nowadays with online ordering and delivery. But the food arrived exactly as order and before the time that it was expected. On top of that the food was good. It was still hot and plentiful. This is going to be by Indian delivery of choice from now on.

Ordered King prawn in tandoori masala. This was pleasant but not outstanding, the prawns were just added to the sauce. The next dish was new Bombay chicken.Again a pleasant dish with some gentle heat, the boiled eggs were nicely cooked but found the potato rather bland. The side dish of sag aloo was run of the mill. The keema nan was possibly the smallest I have ever seen! The rice dishes were superb and no bright yellow colouring. The papadoms were very greasy and totally smashed to pieces.Total price was £38.60 and basically overpriced!
