Reviews on Indian food in Lossiemouth, Scotland, United Kingdom. Lossiemouth (Scottish Gaelic: Inbhir Losaidh) is a town in Moray, Scotland. Originally the port belonging to Elgin, it became an important fishing town. Although there has been over a 1,000 years of settlement in the area, the present day town was formed over the past 250 years and consists of four separate communities that eventually merged into one. From 1890 - 1975 it was a police burgh as Lossiemouth and Branderburgh.

Booked our table here in advance. Arrived to be sat down and furnished with menus and had our drinks order taken. We were charged £5.90 for two pints of diet coke and £4.40 for two pints of blackcurrant and water which we found very expensive. Especially as the cordial is just a dash with water. Disappointing. We all had poppadum's with a pickle tray of mango chutney, spiced onions, yoghurt dip and hot pickle mix. For starters we had vegetable pakora, mixed kebab, prawn poori and a garlic king prawn. For mains we had two tandoori mixed grill, oriental tiger khan, three pilau rice, keema nan, peshwari nan, chicken korma,to follow two coppa spagnola, pistachio kulfiand mango kulfi. All the food was exceptional and very fresh. We did not have long to wait between courses with excellent customer service. We will return and would not hesitate to recommend spice tandoori to anyone.

Qismat is a busy licensed Indian restaurant, popular with locals and visitors to the area. Offering a wide choice of dishes, mainly curries and tandoori dishes, but also much more. We also have a special 3 course lunchtime menu available. Every Mondays we
Elgin is not the most blessed when it comes to good eating places, although variety and standards have certainly improved over the past few years. Quismat is one of our favourites as the surroundings, food and service are all of a very high standard.

This restaurant is now renamed Panache and we visited on a wet lunchtime a couple of months ago. Our visit was the first for us since the namechange and it was surprisingly quiet considering how well it had recently done in the National Curry Awards, for which it had achieved some good press publicity. We enjoyed our lunch but Elgin is blessed with a couple of other very good Indian restaurants so the competition is tough. We will return.

Empty Restaurant, beautifully decorated, welcomed by a guy in outdoor clothes, lights switched on, music turned on, heating turned on, and immediately asked what we wanted to drink. Menu choice was good, food was ok, apart from prawn smelling a bit strong, dishes were served on cold plates, service was also on the cool side. A bit pricey for what you get. Don't think I will return.
