Reviews on Indian food in Kandy, Central Province, Sri Lanka. Kandy (Sinhalese: මහනුවර Mahanuwara, pronounced [mahanuʋərə]; Tamil: கண்டி, pronounced [ˈkaɳɖi]) is a major city in Sri Lanka located in the Central Province. It was the last capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka. The city lies in the midst of hills in the Kandy plateau, which crosses an area of tropical plantations, mainly tea. Kandy is both an administrative and religious city and is also the capital of the Central Province. Kandy is the home of The Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world. It was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1988.

Spacious room with beverage amenities. There is a big swimming pool in the roof top with a great scenic view. We book this hotel with breakfast and dinner option. There are lot of menu in breakfast and dinner. Food quality is also very good. Dinner was served with live solo music. Wide spread of succulent dishes tantalized our taste buds at both dinner and breakfast buffets.. Had one of the best BBQ stations I tried. Was confused with the lots of choices I had between Sri Lankan, Western, Indian and Italian food at the buffet. Had a nice sit down lunch which was a set menu with options, again delicious.

We ended up in this hotel being taken by our driver, and we were both not only disappointed but saddened at the same time.We were greeted by a pretty dressed up waiter whom gave us our menus and seemed to take our order rather promptly due to a lack of clientele. We had a burger here, that was absolutely vial, with processed chicken as a pattie, and a bun that was drowned in Mayonnaise. And then we had the view of chained up Elephants to observe whilst eating.Put the service, food and chains together, if you call that a great place to go, well so be it.We would never advise anyone to dine and observe the elephants from this hotel unless you like to see animals uncomfortable and you like lack lustre service and food.

White House has now moved to No 42, Dalada Veediya, Kandy. Please look for "Foodlands Restaurant" as we have rebranded with a new look. Foodlands celebrates 26 years of operation in the town Kandy and is part of local food scenario for over 2 decades and
Popped in for impromptu lunch and we quickly escorted upstairs (I think where tourists are meant to eat!). Took the waiters recommendation - we all had Paratha (delicious) and I opted for a prawn curry. It was excellent - both in terms of quality and value. The place is obviously popular with tourists and locals. It is clean and friendly and I would definitely return. If you donât fancy spicy food, try their rice dishes - my sonâs chicken fried rice was really tasty.

They arenât âglobal foodâ, but âIndian foodâWe order a Chinese Wok Lamen with vegetables and other with chicken, it came without soy sauce, but very very spiced with Indian ingredients. I couldnât eat. They share the cuisine with the other restaurant âIndianâ besides. The desert was very good. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Not cheap food.

We serve 50 Varieties of Dosai. Customer satisfaction is our motto.
Went for lunch and had the cheese and onion Marsala dosa. Wasnât sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. The guy that served us was so nice and so helpful. The place was very clean with a wash basin to wash your hands as there isnât cutlery( they will provide it needed) We ate the Sri Lankan way which is a lot more fun and seems to taste so much better it also means you get to lick your figures with out people staring at you and thinking your being rude. Itâs a vegetarian restaurant which suited us just fine even though we occasionally like a little meat.
