Travel all over Eastern US. Dined at many excellent Indian restaurants. Tonightâs was not good! Food was blah, service was horrible. Young girl didnât bring my tea til dinner came out. After serving the dish, never came back to check on everything. Just poor service!!

I was in the area with my daughter who was attending a RIT Women in Engineering event and spending the night with a current student in their dorm room, so I was on my own for dinner.I had spent the afternoon sightseeing around Rochester and quit by about 6 and stopped for dinner a little earlier than I usually would. I love Indian Cuisine and during our first visit here we tried a different Indian place so I picked this new one, for me anyway. Being early it was not very busy yet.Since it was just me I got the smallest appetizer they had - Aloo Samosa - a deep fried pastry filled with potatos & peas - very good. The 22 oz "Old Monk" beer help smooth my frayed touristy nerves. For dinner I had the Lamb Palak with Basmati RIce, lamb cubes in a spinach puree type sauce that was very good. The Tandorrri Naan was excellent also. Now that I have 5 years of tuition and visits here to look forwad to, I will no doubt be back several times.

I stopped into this local restaurant yesterday on my way back from some lunch time errands. Although I had never before dined there, I am very familiar with Indian cuisine, as we are fans of that ethnicity and have visited just about every Indian restaurant. As I entered, the hostess recommended that I try the set-price buffet, as it was fast and inexpensive. It contained many of the dishes that I am used to and enjoy, such as the rice, the chicken machni (spelling), the curried spinach dish (saag), Tandoori chicken, and lots more. The buffet actually looked quite decent, with a wide array of dishes. They brought me out a small square take-out dish, as well as a small round bowl with a cover, for things such as sauces, desserts, etc. When I asked for a second one of these small, side dishes so that I could try a sauce AND a dessert, the hostess informed me that I would have to pay extra. Wait a minute! Isnât this an âall-you-can-eat buffet?â Apparently not! (Or else, it is an all-you-can eat buffet, but you must pay if you want âsecondsâ of a dish. Good grief â how much does a small Styrofoam dish cost anyway? Enough to get your customers upset? I guess so!I must admit that once I went through this little episode with the hostess, I started looking for (and finding) other things to not like about the place. The food is OK, but not above average. It is acceptable, but certainly not any better than any other local Indian restaurant. And if you are hungry, or ask them to extend a courtesy to you, expect to be denied. I found this to be extremely annoying, and worthy of a negative consequence in my evaluation. Everything else at this restaurant was about average. I would not recommend dining there.

Modern Indian flavors transformed into a contemporary gourmet experience! Pleasant, amazing dining experience.
My friend and I were treated to excellent service from Taj,the waiter, and the co-owner also stopped by to make sure everything was to our liking - it was indeed; we liked how there were meals from different cities and states of India and enjoyed learning about them as we ordered. The food was excellent, the presentation superb, the decor well thought through and the ambience was warm and comfortable. I highly recommend. Thanks a lot Chris, we are so glad you had a good visit to Amaya. We will love to see you and your friends again.
