This is an e- mail sent to Babar Elephant on Saturday 31/8/19 - WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR A REPLY.!!!!Dear sir/madamMy partners and I have just walked out of the Babar elephant in Billinge I booked a table for two earlier in the week for 7.30 pmWe arrived at 7.20 there were a number of people 8 in fact queuing at the door waiting. We were spoken too quickly and told it might be about 10 minutes wait This was fine as it would mean we would be sat down about 7.35. At 7.45 still waiting in the draughty entrance we were invited over to the bar for a drink which we had to pay for I may add. Still no movement when a couple who apparently are very regular and in front of us and had not booked were offered a table at just after 2000 hrs this added to the insult The maitre de spoke to us and said if you donât have a long wait on a Saturday night then the restaurant is not doing its job properly. I took that to mean he was prepared for us to wait and tough. Not even a complimentary drink was offered at 20.08 we left. I await your reply prior to my launching what I think on social media. We have been to the babar on numerous occasions and I think this may well be the last. We have never been so poorly treated at a restaurant before. It seems that because it is so busy you do not need to worry about the customerI await your replyDear sir / madam really sorry for what has happened . Can you please email me [email protected] kind regards Aftab Ali

Fire and spice indian is a well established takeaway which has been trading for many years with over 30 years of experiance chefs cooking your meals to the highest standards possible. 5 star hygine rating for a peace of mind for all our customers knowing
Would definitely recommend. Me and my husband have been looking for a good Indian that delivers for a while and I can honestly say weâve found a gem here. It arrived earlier than expected. The staff were so helpful and friendly: both over the phone and delivery. It was packed so well and we were given poppadoms free. Chicken tikka main was beautiful and my husband was extremely happy with his curry. We will definitely be ordering again and visit the restaurant. Thank you Fire and Spice! Amazing

Good food at a very reasonable price with special offers at mid week. Also all food cooked with as little saturated fat as possible. Brilliant takeaway service, good selection of wines and beers. Wi-Fi available.
After hearing of many good things from friends about the Balti Spice I finally decided to visit. I was greeted by the owner and a very charming man (had a nice conversation). Ordered food on recommendation and was impressed. Everything was delicious and will definitely be returning. My new number one Indian in St Helens

Fully Licensed Indian (Southeast Asian) Restaurant. Serves some English food as well e.g. Steaks, Salmon fish, Fried Chicken, Nugget, Fish& Chips etc.
Spent the evening with friends at this Indian Restaurant in Earle Street Newton-le-Willows. The restaurant in my opinion is just your standard mediocre type. I noticed the management places a lot of emphasise on its corporate identity ensuring the Pink Pearl brand is displayed on its plates, chocolate wrapping, menus and corporate signage. They have theme nights, live singers, charity events and lots of menu deals offers and promotions which is all really great in essence. I would have liked to see a more spaced out seating environment rather than feel your cramped together due to limited space, not much privacy especially if the place was busy. Therefore the ambiance here was just average. In fairness the neon lighting around does enhance the place slightly so that is an improvement. The pricing of the food was very reasonable, as I said earlier lots of menu deals which are good value. The place obviously has embraced the social media trend with Instagram, twitter, facebook etc so it was nice to see. The place was scrupulously clean which is massive bonus as it does demonstrate the management here ensure high standards are met and adhered too.The food was presented well in general, we all had chicken and lamb biryani which were both flavoursome and tender. Starters dishes ranged from £3.25 - £4.95, the main courses are ranged from £6.95 - £12.95 so in generally very reasonable prices for your average evening out.In conclusion yes its fair to see that this independent restaurant is very current with the trends, modern with its corporate identity and serves well cooked food but I just feel that an evenings out especially in any kind of restaurants you need to feel it gives that ambience and that bit of privacy, alas in this establishment its missing. This is just my own personal opinion and not a defamation or slate of this restaurant as it does its best with the space its got but all I would say is for them to contemplate less cramped seating and you will have the perfect place.Opening times 5.pm 11.pm everyday but stays open till 11.30 Fridays and Saturdays. Thanks for your feedback. Please let us clarify that compared to most of the indian restaurants in the area, we have more spaces between the tables. The space we have is standard for a restaurant of our size. But we will look into your feedback to see if we can improve anymore. Thank you.

Visited late on a Saturday; we hadn't booked but were seated immediately. As it was late, it was almost empty but there was evidence that it had been busier earlier... lots of squashed poppadoms in the carpet which hadn't been cleared away.We ordered our starters; my husband had shami kebab which he said were amongst the best he'd ever had. I had chicken chat. The puri was lovely and light however the chat was a bit sweet for me. It was more like a korma. However, that is individual taste. It was hot and plentiful. Our mains arrived quickly; I had chicken rezala which was very tasty. Not too hot and had an almost smoky flavour. My husband had Sylethi (sorry for awful spelling!) which he really enjoyed, though he spent a few minutes picking out the chillies as there was a lot of them!We ordered keema pilau and vegetable bhaji to accompany the main, both were very good.Half way through, we admitted defeat as the portions were a good size. The very polite waiter bagged it up for us to take home rather than waste it. Snd my son thoroughly enjoyed it when we took it home!It was our first visit here but we will definitely return.

Went here with a group of colleagues for an early evening meal. A whole range of different dishes were ordered across the group and without exception they were tasty and (importantly, I think) as expected from the descriptions on the menu.In a crowded market place (how many Indian restaurants have you eaten at? I know I've been to a lot) this one does stand out as being a good one.Would happily return.

Exquisite indian cuisine. We are full lecensed and sell banglashi and indian food
We were going for the Wednesday Saver Deal, 3 courses for £9.95.I had a quick check through the reviews as its been a while since we ate in, but have had take aways. The review sounded ok, and seemed a bit familiar - ooh, someones used my review - oh it is mine ! What a fool !After the pops and pickles, started with mixed starters, which was wonderful, could easily have eaten two or three of these as the meal. Very tasty indeed.Lamb Rogan Josh and split the rice and Naan bread between us (either one or the other per person), good flavours if a little spicy for us, but still very nice.I would probably get another rice and naan next time as not a great lot of rice.We had asked for a half of cider, and a pint of lager, but got a pint of each. Said we'd only ordered a half, "we only do cans", not a problem but could have been informed on ordering.Courses are,Papadom and pickle trayStarter choiceMain Meal inc either rice (small) or naan (also not mahoosive). All in all a good meal, and a good evening.

We are a Family based Indian Restaurant ,Bar & Takeaway and eager to 'build' your new favourite Indian , so why not help us in the making, thank you everyone who has contributed so far.
Visited here twice in October 2019 and both times were fabulous. Lovely environment in an old building, plenty of seating and enough space to enjoy your meal. Staff make you feel very welcome. Food was delicious and freshly cooked and good sized portions, so much so that we never managed to finish al our food on both visits. definitely a hidden gem in St Helens and well worth a visit. reasonably priced and if in the area again I will return.
