Reviews on Indian food in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Essen began in the mid-9th century as home to a women's abbey, then during the Renaissance became an important coal mining town and later a major steel production center. The famed metal-working Krupp family opened their first foundry here in 1810. One of Essen's most interesting places is the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex, once the largest colliery in the world. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it attracts 800,000 visitors a year, often hosting art exhibitions and performances.

It happens often that because of good reviews end up in a restaurant and feel disappointed at the end of the dinner. I was prepared for this to happen, but my worries were for nothing. This really is a good place and I subscribe to previous reviews. A friendly waiter, proud on his restaurant, assuring us that everything is fresh, takes care for us. He does this in a genuine hospitable way. The food is authentic, I have never been there, so itâs a bit of an assumption, but a safe one. Fresh, well prepared and served with pride for the food. The taste is sensational. We had the lamb curry that was labelled as Sri Lanka street food. As a whole dish a bit dry, but part of a sharing dinner, it brings interesting textures and flavors. The other dishes, the famous chicken biryani and a lentil stew were very flavorful as well, served with rice and a roti. Prices are moderate and perhaps even low for what is offered. All in all this is really a good and sympathetic restaurant and it deserves also in this review the maximum score. Well done. Thank you :-D

I was here with a friend on a lunch, and we had a beer, a glass of wine light cola, chicken masala and another main course. We paid 45 euro and were completely full and satisfied. The food was excellent and very well served. Our only sorrow is that they had no cheese nuan bread.Very recommended

Not the best I have ever had, but still a good curry. Staff were extremely friendly, service was spot on and not rushed. If you're nearby and want a curry, then I would definitely recommend Taste India. Look out for the fennel elephant.....
