I went to Orientals for lunch today and ordered the famous Mutton Bunny. Upon arrival the bunny looked good with enough gravy etc., however it had a more reddish appearance than normal. After the first bite I realised that this bunny is infact a tomatoe based meal and NOT how a curry should taste. This infact tasted like Mutton chutney instead of mutton curry. The meat itself was in chunks that was flavourless, which seemed liked boiled Mutton was dropped into a tomatoe gravy. For R80 a quarter this NOT cheap and one would expect quality given the restaurants history. All I can say is that I will never return for such poorly cooked food. This place has lost it

For a REAL curry experience try this old, established restaurant. A great place to celebrate a birthday or a family celebration. A full range of curries but try the bunny chow. The service is always exceptional and the prices are competetive. Aland the old Indian vibe is quite catchy.Thank you for the excellent review. We look forward to seeing you here again soon.

I've been going to Palki for at least 20 years and they get better every time I visit. I live in Johannesburg but I always stop by there for a meal whenever I'm in Durban. I took my mother there last night for her birthday and tried the non-veg thali for the first time which had lamb rogan josh, butter chicken, butter naan, and palao rice. You can literally eat the palao rice on its own, and I asked the manager to give me extra to take home. Both the South African and Indian cricket teams visit there regularly and I've had the pleasure of meeting them a few times as well.Dear Aradhs13, thank you so much for your excellent review and superb rating. We are indeed inspired by your kind words especially since you have been a guest of Palki the past 20 years. Thank you for your patronage which we appreciate. Look forward to seeing you soon.

This is still one of my top 5 curry restaurants in Durban.Canecutters offers a no frills authentic Durban curry meal at reasonable prices.Their bunnies are their signature dishes and they are delicious yet not shockingly hot like some restaurants!I normally have the de-boned mutton curry which is slightly more expensive but you are assured of getting meat and not bones and fat!Another favorite of mine is the butter chicken.Highly recommended

We are fasting for Navaratri so Indian was the perfect choice. Thankfully we got a table even without a prior booking - and clearly Mali’s is a popular choice on a Friday night - as the restaurant quickly filled up. There were lots of vegetarian options and we opted for the Manchurian mushrooms and masala papads to start. Mains were masala dosa - massive dosa with a very watery, small serving of potato curry, dhall makhani - average and paneer Tikka masala with garlic naans and raita. Service was very good.

Recently Goodlife Foundation Executives had a business lunch at this beautiful restaurant. Our experience as we entered the restaurant was absolutely overwhelming with neatly clad waiters welcoming us with so much of discipline and excitement. Melodious eastern music played in the background. We were seated and helped almost immediately. There was a huge selection of mouth watering meals to choose from. Upon placing our order the well trained staff went on overdrive and within a short while our freshly cooked meals were meticulously served as per our order. We immediately tucked in and was not disappointed. All the meals were well prepared and very delicious. The dessert was equally of high quality and very tasty. Our overall experience was impeccable and impressive. Definitely a huge 10 from all of us for excellent service delivery. We will definitely tell all our family and friends about this authentic restaurant. Thank You
