Delightful owner/waiter/host and most unique fusion of Indian and Mexican food. Husband and I both had the Punjab Burrito. With a preference for a bit of heat, I asked for Level 6 (of 10) heat/spice and hubby asked for no heat. The burritos were quite substantial in size (2 per plate) accompanied by basmati rice. Tea and water were refilled promptly. And a delectable Gelato Pistachio dessert was shared. The latter, I liked very much but my husband did not care for.If you are looking for a casual, unpretentious place with very good food, try Avatar's.

Unobtrusively situated in a strip mall, Avatars is a winner. The food looks Mexican (e.g., enchiladas), but the flavors are truly Indian...seasoned robustly and boldly, but not overly spicy. I felt like I was eating a Punjabi version of Mexican molé.Absolutely delicious. Large portions, priced fairly ($11-14 per plate)

This place exceeded expectations. We visited on a weeknight when it was pretty quiet. Food and service were great, though maybe it would slow down when busy. Itâs a pretty restaurant on a side street with spacious indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is generally familiar - Indian restaurant goers are likely to be neither surprised nor disappointed. Reasonable value for Mill Valley. I hope to return!

This is one of two places in the Avatar restaurant empire, with the other being Avatar's Punjab Burritos in Mill Valley. Their tag line is âpurveyors of ethnic confusionsâ which is pretty accurate. The Indian aspect is mostly Indian, the Mexican aspect shows up mostly as tortillas and cheese and then there are things like jerk chicken (?). Ashok, the owner, host, waiter, part time cook and floor show likes to keep things in line. I got tired just watching him for the first 15 minutes. I thought the food was good with fresh ingredients and a 4 out of 5 on my rating scale. My only annoyance was my request of 6 of 10 on the spiciness scale was apparently overruled by Ashok as I think he thought I already looked too flushed to warrant something that spicy. Not worth making a fuss over. The place is tiny so reservations are probably a good idea. If youâre into a dinner experience, they do have a few seats that channel a 60âs dinner with a view of the hard working kitchen staff.

Serving the best Indian Food in Marin County in downtown San Rafael since 1999. Vegan and Vegetarian, Gluten free, all organic. Lunch Buffet, Online Take Out Ordering, Zagat rated. Ranked #1 Marin Indian Restaurant. Certified Green Business.
Moved a couple of years ago from the Mission SF and were soon disappointed at what passes for a decent restaurant or eatery near us. We have almost stopped going out, well, we also remodeled our kitchen and it's finished now, but in that time we were forced to venture out to many restaurants in the area here, and found the quality sorely lacking.Once exception is Lotus Indian Cuisine. We have only ever gotten takeout, but have enjoyed the calming waiting area. The food is so delicious, authentic and mouth watering. We count on it if we're ever in the mood for Indian food. They make an authentic and sumptuous chicken tikka masala, of course, along with an eggplant dish Bengam Barta. The lamb ghosht rounds out a fantastic meal. Add naan and basmati rice, chutney and you're home free. Count on it, but pst, don't tell anyone else.
