Permit Room located ground floor 1920s historic building . Colonial fitout look, ties in with building. Restaurant and bar theme on prohibition India, with south Indian cuisine
Undecided about dinner on our last evening in Christchurch, we chanced upon the Permit Room. The service was friendly and efficient and the quality of the food was really excellent, offering a perfect balance of texture and flavour, without being too salty. The cuisine is authentic South Indian. I really couldn't fault any of the dishes, and look forward to eating more of their delicate dosas.

My husband and I had lunch today at the Coriander Leaf and it was honestly THE BEST Indian we have ever tasted!! And we have had a few over the years. All our items were cooked fresh, tasted delicious and served in a timely manner. The host was excellent and they provided a quiet but welcoming environment. Could not fault anything!! We would definitely recommend and will be back next time we are here!!Thanks JulesBurt. We look forward to welcome you again.

All mains are gluten free except samosa, malai kofta and naan bread. all the options are available-(vegetarian, non-vegetarian and sea food) please come and share experience with us.
Called in for cheap and cheerful on friday night and found it very cold which didn't help the atmosphere for the few local clients. We enjoyed the Lamb Posht and Mango Chicken after the mixed platter entree. As it is BYO and in the Entertainment book, overall good value.

I'm not typically an Indian cuisine fan however I was blown away with not only the food at Maharaja but also the service. Dined with family over Easter Weekend. Was told nice food here but that was not correct....the food was exceptional!! As I couldn't decide which starter to try I ordered the Banquette Menu for one. This gave me a sample of each and as I said to the owner, they made the best samosa's I have ever tasted! I then had the Kadhai Chicken and with galic naan - very flavoursome and plenty of fresh garlic. With the Banquette, there is also a dessert, therefore I chose the Gulab Jamun - milk dumplings - a wonderful but unusal taste sensation, and not a sweet as it sounded. With plenty of vegetarian options on the menu, the banquette was also offered as such.If you have been to Kaikoura in the past and dined here, you may not have noticed this has changed owners. Do not let the exterior put you off, the food and the staff are fantastic. Bookings would be recommended when busy season, and takeaways are a very popular option.

We used to frequent this Curryhouse quite often until about a year ago when we thought the food had lost its appeal somewhat. Maybe a change in chef or ingredients perhaps? We were in town last night and decided on the spur of the moment to give it another try, To our joy it was even better than it ever was! Food very tasty, service friendly and efficient, in short a treat!

The food here is so good and tasty that i make sure i go to this restaurant everytime i go to Christchurch on business. I have been here 6 times in the past 4 weeks and the food standard is always high. The vegetarian sliders are very nice for an entree and the biriyani is a must try. Lamb curry is super. Highly recommend it to visitors. It's a licensed place as well and the staff are friendly and helpful. It's located in front of the ibis hotel.
