We just gave it a try.....we live in Amersham and we were all really impressed by the choice and freshness of the food. Nan bread cooked when we were ready so it was super fresh and warm.....even fresh watermelon afterwards which was really refreshing. We will definitely be back as it was great value and delicious. Staff smiley too!

The food here is incredible! You will not find any chicken tikka masala or madras as the menu is entirely different and features authentic South Indian dishes only.Everything is delicious and presented beautifully. If you order popadoms you will find they come in different types and shapes and taste !My wife had a fish masala curry and I had a spicy chicken curry both of which were superb. For a side dish we had a very unusual dish of crab and peas which was excellent.I have eaten in many Indian restaurants but this was definitely one of the very best I have ever eaten in as was the food. The service is outstanding and completely by surprise the waiters brought out a birthday cake for me ( along with singing happy birthday!) as my wife mentioned it was my birthday treat.I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough !We will be back for certainDear Dennisogara,Thank you very much for your kind review! Amazing food and great service. Possibly the best Indian Iâve had, including eating in New Delhi. Portions are not large but possibly the best flavours and quality of food Iâve ever experienced so totally worth the money. I live many miles away but will definitely return to eat here and experience the great flavours and service again.

Four of us visited this tiny intimate restaurant for the first time yesterday for a Christmas get together, and found the establishment disappointing. Firstly, the tables are so small that the staff struggled to find space to put the dishes down. The white wine spritzers were flat, and the beer not chilled enough. Service was very hit and miss too, either eager on one hand, and then unattentive on the other. Every dish lacked flavour and was quite bland. The prawn puree starter, which usually has a bit of a 'kick' in terms of heat, was so mild that we had to spice it up a bit with a chutney left over from the popadoms. All the main courses, Chicken Dansak, Lamb Korai, Chicken Korai and vegetable curry all lacked any flavour whatsoever. The vegetable sides (mushroon bhaji, sag aloo and brinjil bhaji) again were subject to blandness. On the positive, portions sizes were generous, but I'm afraid thats about the only positive. When the popadoms and chutney tray proved the most flavoursome part of the meal, that says a lot. All four of us were unanimous in declaring this compact and bijou restaurant one of the most dull tasting and uninspired Indian meals we have tasted. Needless to say, we won't be back!

We had a great value Travelzoo voucher for 2 courses and a glass of fizz. The setting is idyllic, the young staff are lovely and very efficient and the food is fabulous. As we walked in I saw the Thai menu and assumed it was only available on certain nights, so was very pleased to be given this menu as well as the standard one as it was included in the deal. The curry was very pleasingly hot (maybe too much for some people but perfect for me!). A great place, and I hope to return.

I've been visiting The Old Bengal for years and it's the best curry house in beaconsfield, sorry, was the best curry house in beaconsfield. It has recently changed hands and my visits since have just got worse and worse every time. I visited this Saturday and we had to go and get a member of staff to take a drinks order, the same for food and then again to ask how much it was going to cost for the whole experience. The food took a long time to come and you would of thought they were rationing the chicken, a couple of pieces per dish. Unfortunately the standards of the food isn't the only thing to have dropped, The waiters used to be great, immaculately turned out, polite and a great laugh! Now they're the complete opposite, I've never been severed a curry so aggressively just shout the dish and throw it down. Cheers mate!I loved the old Bengal, unfortunately the 'new' Bengal is not the same. The title for best curry house in beaconsfield is up for grabs, suggestions welcomed

Went by chance very late on a Saturday night after checking into nearby hotel. Well-received and shown to our table. Incredibly extensive menu with several dishes new to us although many variants on a theme. While we enjoyed our starters we discussed with our waiter a main dish which was relatively mild for my wife. When the main dishes came the choice was actually too spicy for her and without a moment's hestitation the waiter whisked the dish away and brought a similar but much milder version with additional rice.Somehow we got involved with another member of staff on the skills of napkin-folding - he was preparing other tables. My wife received an impromptu lesson on the skill which she thoroughly enjoyed and was even invited back the next day for more "classes". Unfortunately we did not have the time to return.Overall a great evening with good food and an unexpected delightful "class".Top marks to the staff

Indian Restaurant.
I always find it difficult to choose what to eat at this restaurant as they have a large selection of items on the menu. All the dishes are really good and because of that you want to order one of everything. Thatâs why luckily the staff here can be relied upon to choose for you and this time, once again, they chose some great dishes. When you want to try everything itâs great to get a custom platter of a wide selection of grilled items each one cooked really well and full of flavour. The curry dishes also were packed with flavour and just at the right spice level. The naan here is the best naan I have had at any Indian restaurant, soft, light and tasty without any hard burnt bits. I could have eaten 10 of them. Again the selection chosen by the owner was perfect for the curry, garlic and cheese. This was a great meal and the two people I bought here were equally impressed with the taste of the food.
