They serve very good food in the middle of the forest. They also have a nice beer selection. Spare ribs are their speciality.

't Boothuis is situated in Massenhoven, next to the boatclub. In a comfy environment, superb dishes are being presented with a smile. Try one of the special menu's and be surprised. This is definately value for money. I love coming back to this place, no matter about the outside temperature. Offcourse a hot day gives extra possibilities on the terras, but inside can also be fun.

I felt quite sorry for the reviewer below this review who ordered the mussels and strawberry sundae (both on the menu) and was told they are out of season, because that is what happened to me! I was in the mood for mussels so was heartened to see mussels on page one of the menu and took my time choosing how I wanted them cooked. The waiter came to take our order and said "oh those are out of season" so A. why are they still on the menu, and B. why didn't he say when we sat down?!
I instead reluctantly chose a steak but unfortunately the sauce wasn't much good. They have 4 choices of sauce, all of which are cream based so nothing like port wine sauce etc, you have to have a cream one. I had mushroom sauce which I didn't like. I was told the steak came with salad but it came with undercooked (nearly raw) matchstick cut root vegetables which were slicked with way too much olive oil, and a basket of fries which were OK. We also had some oysters from Zeeland which happened to be in season (surprise).
The restaurant is quite big and there is lots of parking outside. The service isn't bad but do ensure they actually have everything on the menu and aren't just saying things are 'out of season' (like strawberries - and they aren't out of season because I bought some on Friday from Albert Heijn, our largest supermarket chain).
I wasn't overwhelmed with this place. We were on our way home (to Breda, Holland) from Lier (in Belgium) and just wanted something to eat, but we had been craving mussels so it was disappointing they let you sit down and make your choice and then announce they don't have them and didn't bother changing the menu or telling you. The prices are on the high side too. My husband had North Sea sole with a white creamy sauce, small bowl of salad and fries, and that was 30 euros. My steak with veg and fries was 24 euros.

We went for a normal dinner to this place. The food wasn't all that good, the fish was filled with bones, while they not state this on the menu. The vegeatbles tasted like they had been defrosted and thrown on a plate. The only thing good were the fries, but if i wanted just fries i wouldn't have paid so much money... The people serving you looked like they were there but didn't want to be there. They were almost rude and not at all motivated... Wouldn't go back.

Driving from A21 (or E34) along N14, towards Lier, one can easily spot a place called Oliver Restaurant in Massenhoven. The place is easy to locate due to the clearly visible sign over the main entrance.
I was hungry and looking for a decent place to eat and from now on it's been deep in my memory. As I'm fond of fish and fruti di mare dishes, I chose moules as the main dish and I didn't regret it. The dish was served in a garlic sauce and it was delicious. Not to mention a friendly atmosphere and „Come away with me” sung by Norah Jones. To finish my meal I ordered a cup of coffee which tasted delightfully. To your knowledge, moules are served seasonally and you should make sure it's the right time to order before you do so. I was there in October.

Looking for an honest, home cooked style menu, with excellent meat, with a very good price/quality ratio?
The Sjoks is a great address, especially for steak, but the menu shows a variety of fine and classic disches of the Flemisch kitchen, including soles and great shrimp croquettes.
Most people come back, very often. Town athmosphere where you'll meet friends.

Gastronomy with a smile, the essentiels, no fuss.
What a disappointing evening. The staff acting very emotionless without any passion. Previously we visited this place in December and unfortunately had the same impression. The paired wines being way too young and overpriced. Michelin please review. This establishment doesn’t deserve a star. I’m always very enchanted as you can tell from my reviews but it was a real disgrace. Not only once but twice.

Il Forno is a first rate Italian restaurant, offering a wide range of classic dishes from pizza to Osso Bucco at more than reasonable prices. Their base ingredients are top notch and the food is not only very taste but also seasoned and cooked to perfection. The salmon with lobster ravioli is my favorite, followed by the profiterols with gingerbread ice cream and hot Belgian chocolate.
The restaurant is modern and sleek, and hosts a large outside Terrace. The service is top notch. Not only is this restaurant excellent in terms of value for money, but they are also consistent in terms of quality, cooking style and taste throughout every dish on the money.
Highly recommended !
