Step back I time to the old boarding house era in east Texas with plates of country fried chicken and fmIly bowls of sides with fresh bread rolls and you have the concept run by the local historical society.

Stopped in on our Big 2016 Road Trip. The fare was standard DQ (definitely good, but not phenomenal), but the service from the counter was exceptionally notable (in a good way).

When we're in town, the kids always insist on visiting Elijah's. The food is very good, the people are friendly, and the atmosphere is laid back and welcoming. If you're ever in town on a Wednesday, swing by and try the special: chicken pot pie. It is delicious!! I ate it all and still wanted more. All other days, I order the chicken fried steak. Yum!

Z's Fillin' Station caught our eye on our drive up to the lake. You can't miss the red brick building with bright polka dots!
Our group ordered fried shrimp poboy (lots of crispy shrimp on a toasted bun), alfredo pasta (tasty, generous portion) and a variety of burgers - cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger, mushroom swiss burger and two avocado burgers! Burgers came out hot, juicy and piled high with toppings with a side of crispy french fries. Menu has a large selection of fresh foods and a kids' menu. Some items were priced a little on the high side, but worth it for a small-town home-cooked meal. This is not fast-food!
Kids enjoyed looking at all the decor - license plate wall, antique gas pump, milk jug counterweight for the door, funny plaques, Woodville newspaper articles and custom-made birdhouses. Men's and Women's bathrooms were very clean! Important for me and my boys - especially on road trips!
The owner checked on us several times and was so friendly! Clearly, he takes pride in his establishment, the food he serves and his customers' experience. He welcomed our friend's dog to join us on the covered patio. We kept Jasper on a leash near our table.
Last, but not least, don't forget to try their famous Strawberry Bomb. Extraordinary!

This is exactly what you would picture when out roaming around the small county roads of the Piney Woods in East Texas. Good home cooked food in a clean simple environment. You can look out and see the animals or an old farm house. Bring your appetite and enjoy good food.
Breakfast and Lunch only.

Traveling in the East Texas interior off the major highways there's the opportunity to eat at many local establishments and break the "chain restaurant" habit.
If you're in Woodville this is a nice local establishment with a handsome dining room and atmosphere, nice staff and good food with daily specials.
There's a very limited lunch menu and more variety at night. Worth stopping if you're hungry and need a break from traveling. No real vegan or vegetarian options here though.

My family takes me to La Enchilada every time I visit Woodville. It's their favorite spot in town.
I had the salad plate -- a taco, guacamole, a chalupa and a tostada. Good food. Plenty of food.
Their salsa is good, abeit a little thin. But the chips were almost stale. Disappointing.

My family went to Tammy's for breakfast today. It's a little wooden structure on Hwy 190, just east of town.
I had a BLT for breakfast -- it was really good. They crumble the bacon so you don't have to chew your way through the slices of bacon with every bite. Had a bite of a biscuit, too. YUM. Others had eggs, hash browns, etc. All left happy and full!

I've lived in Woodville for several years and had the opportunity to try most of the local restaurants. In my opinion this Pizza Hut has the freshest food in Woodville. I eat here a couple of times a month and have never been disappointed. I've been very pleased with both the service dining in or ordering online. This is one of the better Pizza Huts in my opinion.

A full menu of Italian delights! My husband is a huge fan of shrimp fettuccini. He rated it as best he ever had! My chicken parmigiana had a superior sauce and perfectly done spaghetti. Meals included a nice salad, house dressing was excellent! Then there’s the bread!!! Delicious- garlic and Parmesan. Great service with a smile!
Lastly the value was a 5+. Huge portions at a very reasonable price. Avg $13.00. We are camping near Woodville for several more days and will undoubtedly be back to Joes!
