Owners Brian & Kathryn Loprino, veteran restaurateurs opened their first Public House Restaurant in 2003. By holding true to their creed - Exceptional Food - Great Spirits! They opened an additional location in 2008 serving Crystal Lake.
The restaurant has several rooms which reduces noise and creates more privacy. There are nooks and crannies with a game room room and another with slots.
Our burgers and Ruben were above average, with the latter being among the best. Fries are special too.
Next time, we will hang at their cozy bar for awhile.
Stephanie was our ambassador to good service. She made sure my Turkey Rubin came as requested.
Enjoy

We've been patrons of Swiss Made (both in Woodstock and Harvard) for 40 years or better. Consistently great baked goods are the reason why.
Perhaps my favorite item (though it's hard to choose just one) is their blueberry muffins. Great, moist texture, tons of blueberries and a nice firmness to the top. Another good choice are their small dinner rolls. They come in at about 2/3rds the size of a hardball and are fantastic.
For many years I had an office on the Woodstock Square and we would stop by Swiss Maid at lunch time and pick up a pre-made sandwich and/or salad. Same great quality and fresh every day.

Saturdays are crepe specials as well as the standard menu and the week's specials. Very quiet dining experience - we had a mix of crepes - seafood, ratatouille, beef burgundy, ham and spinach, for dessert Nutella and banana, Apple, Chocolate - all of them beautifully crafted and delicious. The crepes are preceded by a dinner salad with a wonderful dressing.
On an other visit we had the specials from Sushi grade tuna to steak all perfectly prepared. Rendezvous is in small strip mall and can easily be missed - which is a shame as the food and the service are excellent.

So a rep for a drug company brought this for my office; it was probably the best barbecue I've had. The pulled park and brisket were fantastic- tender, tasty, moist, not fatty and full of flavor. The chicken was also quite good. They have great sauces n some kind of bacon topped potatoes that are just awesome- unfortunately they put onions in it- blah- almost ruins it-hate those things. Please leave the onions out. The mac n cheese is just ok- a little bland. They have fantastic baked beans with a bunch of meat in them. I will definitely request any company rep to bring me BBQ King. Eat here or order to go. You won't regret it

As you can imagine this Starbuck's seemed very popular the 3 times I stopped in. It has a great view of the historic Woodstock Square.

I had lunch today at Red Mill Tavern. I had a Niko Burger. It was tasty, and the portion was generous. The service was good. The atmosphere is fun and friendly, somehow managing to successfully balance biker-friendly and family-friendly. There were plenty of both on this beautiful Saturday afternoon.
I was seated outside in the really nice patio area where a band was setting up to play a little later in the afternoon. Everything was great until I realized this was not a smoke-free dining area. I didn't know restaurants in Illinois still had smoking areas, but there were at least three people smoking at tables in this outdoor dining area. They weren't sneaking, and the manager and various servers walked right by and through it numerous times. Smoking is obviously permitted.
So, beware. If a non-smoking environment is important to you, you might want to skip this restaurant, or at least clarify where the smoke-free dining areas are. I wish I'd had a heads-up on that before this first visit.

YoFresh is a fairly new self serve frozen yogurt cafe on the square in Woodstock. Customers help themselves to the flavor and amount of soft serve frozen yogurt and toppings they desire. Their paper cup of yogurt is then weighed and the customer is charged by the weight. I liked having many flavors of yogurt to choose from including low fat and non fat versions. There were also plenty of topping options. You can choose yogurt topped with fresh fruit such as berries and pineapple, or go all out with Snickers pieces and other candies, nuts, etc. The interior is pleasant with bright colors and light from the large windows where customers have a view of the the square. The price of the frozen yogurt varies, of course, depending on the amount of yogurt and the weight of the toppings selected. Our choices cost approximately $3.50 a cup on average for our group.

Nice atmosphere with an upper level and outdoor patio area. They have many tap beers available. The have a full bar and the menu is good with several specialty burgers. I had a specialty burger and you can pick your protein (type of meat). I had buffalo. It was very good. I will return.

This locally owned branch is a wonderful opportunity to experience small town life. Every summer night, the counter is crammed with Little League Teams, families on a walk, or teens who have developed a huge hunger! The ice cream is good, service is better and ambiance is great!
