State Road opened in 2009 in the agricultural town West Tisbury on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. Our interiors were designed by Michael S. Smith. Michael appointed unique American antiques throughout the restaurant and called on regional craftsman and artisans to create a warm and inviting contemporary tavern. In 2010 we planted herb, fruit and vegetable gardens on our grounds. We harvest from the gardens daily for our seasonally focused menus.
This place is an institution. Make a reservation even in the off-season. Everyone knows to come here. Very expensive menu with interesting choices. Delicious brussels sprouts appetizer. Vegetarian cheesy pasta, mushroom, squash entree with a delicious broth-like sauce. Duck entree had an explosion of flavors. Average size portions. Excellent attentive service. Very friendly while juggling a bustling restaurant. Might be a little difficult to find this place at night. Use GPS. Lots of parking.

No ice or other "fillers." Great yogurt and fruit smoothies or yogurt cups with a delicious variety of toppings. Nice patio for warm days.

Both the front door of the Bakery and Back Door Donuts are closed for the season. We will re-open in mid-April 2018. Thank you for your patronage and the great reviews you leave for us and other customers. Wishing you happy holidays and a safe, healthy winter!<br>-- Jan & Rita
I heard the stories, how people line up at 9 o clock at night to eat these treats. I was in the neighborhood at about 3 pm and was surprised to find donuts on display. We bought 4 and went home. What I will say is, I hope these donuts were not from the night before. All were stale and all were thrown away. Do not buy except at night.

The 20byNine philosophy is centered on craftsmanship, quality, and community. CRAFTSMANSHIP: Craftsmanship means a departure from our rush to modernization, and a return to knowing more about the 'who, what, where' of our food and drink production. 20ByNine brings you American craft beer and whiskey paired with locally-sourced food whenever possible to encourage a mindful return to the craft of good food and good drink. QUALITY: From true craftsmanship, we expect high quality. 20ByNine prioritizes high quality, seasonal ingredients for our small-plates menu and partnership with like-minded breweries and producers to ensure we're putting out the best there is. COMMUNITY: We are committed forming lasting relationships with our craftsmen and women, our farmers, and our customers. 20ByNine is a gathering place where our customers will enjoy good food, good beer, and good company. This is the first location opened by the Celestial Restaurant Group, a Martha's Vineyard-centric group focused on providing high quality restaurant experiences. Before Celestial and 20byNine we have been in the restaurant business collectively for over 50 years, and hope to serve you well.
This was perfect for us, we arrived not overly hungry but wanted to eat something. Everything they serve is in small portions and can be shared. This place had the largest whiskey selection I've ever seen in the Northeast. I'm not a whiskey drinker at all, but our server (who was attentive and knowledgeable) recommended a drink where the whiskey was not overpowering - it was perfect (sorry don't recall the name of it). There is a "cool" vibe to this place, but it's very small and I'm not sure that more than 4 people can be accommodated - there were 4 of us and we fit into their booth.
We got a charcuterie board - which had all kinds of exotic fruits, cheeses, pastes, etc. and my favorite was the sausage/pretzel wrap.

One observation I made during our two visits is that this place "happening". Expect a crowded parking lot (albeit, shared with the general store) and long-ish lines. Worth the wait. I've included a copy of the breakfast/lunch counter menu. Also notable that they serve Stumptown coffee, as well as a small variety of gourmet foods of the shelves. My husband loves lavender honey- so hard to find- yet we found some here, imported from Italy.

The Black Dog Bakery is on the Black Dog property with a few small store, lawn and picnic tables. It has the Tavern that overlooks the Black Dog marina. The bakery is a small coffee shop that has bagels, baked goods, muffins and croissants for sale. There is a small variety of merchandise for sale.

As always a great dining experience. Summer or winter this restaurant is one of the best not only on Martha's Vineyard but one of the best I have experienced. The ambiance is only topped by the food and very attentive but not smothering attention to customers by all employees. Last night I was disappointed to have missed the best member of the staff, the beloved golden retriever, who had already retired for the evening. I'll have to go back soon!!

The Lambert's Cove Inn & Restaurant is known as one of the most romantic retreats on Martha's Vineyard. Situated on 7 acres of spacious lawns, gardens, forest and meadowlands in the pastoral town of West Tisbury, it offers tranquility and seclusion. The Restaurant offers one of the best dining experiences on the island. Enjoy the ambiance of our elegant dining room with it's beautiful fireplaces and 100 year old grand piano featuring live entertainment in season. Our dinner menu rotates, featuring fresh island seafood, veal, beef, poultry, in-season vegetables from local gardens and farms, homemade soups, breads and delicious desserts. The Restaurant is not appropriate for children under the age of 8 (with the exception of Mother’s Day and Easter brunches). Note: The restaurant is no longer BYOB!
What a lovely setting this Inn and Restaurant has! A beautiful drive around the island and magical place upon arrival! Before or after dinner be sure and walk around the grounds- you might find yourself booking a room to stay! Dinner was delightful and food delicious! The owners make you feel as if you are entering their own private home and welcome you as immediate friends. What a special place- don't miss this experience! It is worth the drive!!

Our great experience started with trying to make a reservation. I called when they weren't open and didn't leave a message but 10 minutes later a delightful woman called me back saying she saw my missed call. The earliest table available was 9pm but she offered us 6pm at the bar, which we took. Turns out that the woman who called me was also the bartender. I've never seen a bartender work so fast and furious, while still being so patient and friendly. We both ordered the scallops which were the best scallops I've ever eaten!

For breakfast I had 2 "everything" bagels with cream cheese. They were very good as was the coffee. I noticed they had a variety of breakfast items including burritos but I didn't try these. Here you can enjoy music playing while you have breakfast. You have to wald down a few steps to get to the restaurant. A favorite of locals.
