So glad to have traveled I-35 from Austin to Dallas to once again get our goodies at the Czech Stop. Kolaches here are real kolaches of every flavor and variety. A must stop for the traveler or any one on this stretch of I-35. And, yes we need you to branch out with a shop in Utah County! Please!

Wonderful food, clean restrooms, cute gift shop, friendliest people! Perfect place to stop & refresh when traveling. And plenty of gas pumps & parking! Czech people are awesome hosts/hostesses! Love this town & it’s people!! (Stop in to some of the cute shops in downtown if you have time!)

I stop by and get gas here every time I drive by on I35. It's just a convenience store with a large baked goods section at one end.
After getting gas I would go elsewhere to buy kolaches. One day I decided to try one of their apricot kolaches and SOLD! Now I not only get gas but I always also buy their kolaches.
They are baked by the West Baking Co. and there is a huge variety of both fruit and savory to choose from. This time I tried the mango/pineapple over cream cheese. I was only going to eat half but I ate the whole thing. I bought a variety of others as a little gift for a friend.
I would say these as a good as any other I have eaten. My choices have always been fresh and tasty.

Had lunch at this neat old cafe in downtown West. My BLT on homemade bread was delicious. The bacon was crisp & piled high! My husband had the ham sandwich, good but next time he’d add cheese. The service was quick and very friendly. The place is small & cozy. We’ll definitely stop by again.

We stopped with our tour group, none of whom know the first thing about Czech food and we all left with something that turned out to be delicious. The shop was crowded but congenial. The variety is astounding and prices are reasonable. Staff were seemingly happy to explain Czech cuisine to those of us who know little but want to buy a lot. It would take ironclad willpower to leave here empty handed.

This is a Kolache bakery with Czechoslovakian heritage. It is rated one of the top two Kolache bakeries in Texas by Texas Monthly magazine.
Of all the bakeries that claim to make authentic Czech kolache and buchta, The Village Bakery is consistently the best. Every time we go through West, we have to stop in and get a massive amount of baked goodness to go. We love this bakery more than any of the others, and we can't tell y'all how easy it is to drive a little out of your way to see what you're missing. So worth it!

Restaurant needs some cleaning desperately. Also needs some solid structure. Depending on what day it is, you may get great service or decent food. Or not. Pizza crust is usually under done and you can tell the ingredients are cheap. The chips and hot sauce used to be great, now they are visibly greasy and not spiced. Sad to see it go downhill.

First, sausage and kolaches are my favorite. We've lived in Germany and been to most European countries including a trip to Prague. We love the kolaches in the Bryan area and have come by West many times thinking to stop. Don't even slow down here. We are used to a nice mildly spicy sausage link or kielbasa in a warm white bread roll. We ordered the sausage kolache and a bacon, egg, cheese one. The kolache here is served cold and you are expected to cook it yourself in a microwave. The bun itself was a huge doughy dense corn meal mush that would even make a corn dog bad. The sausage was just a glop of shredded pork with no flavor or spices; pretty tasteless. One bite and into the garbage can. The bacon, egg, and cheese thing had the tasteless massive corn bun again and the stuff inside was totally inedible with large chunks of gristle and fat and something resembling egg but definitely not fresh. Into the garbage without a bite. We didn't even try their pastries as they looked as bad.

Located on the Main Street a few blocks east of the highway with plenty of parking along the street. This is a traditional small town café style place that serves good food and has small town friendly service. It well worth the short drive from the interstate.

I am assuming this is the same ownership as the Bush Chicken in Waco where we have eaten for many years. The chicken and menu looked the same. I like to have the ability to ordered exactly the piece of chicken that I can recognize and here when I order a chicken breast that is what is served me not some unrecognizable piece of white meat. The chicken is fried just the way we like it hot and moist and not dried out. This place is really very informal with most people picking up the chicken and eating with the fingers. Prices we felt are most reasonable especially for the specific pieces we always ordered.
