This cafe is on the left as you descend a steep hill (on a sharp bend) when you leave Waiwhuiu (travelling South on the SH1) just before Walkworth or on the right travelling North - we nearly missed it. We were impressed by the tasty food which was beautifully presented. We loved the cockerel too - he certainly kept us entertained and even allowed us to stroke him.

Stopped by here to try the food. Pleasantly surprised. 2 of us didn't really want Japanese but decided to give it a go. All 4 of us really enjoyed our meal which we ate in the wee area inside. Very tasty!!

It wasn't very busy in the restaurant but the take out area was really busy. We had a really nice meal and would go again if we where ever in the area

I've reviewed this bakery before and since then have continued to stop on our way north. Access is easy with parking on the main road and you could take a comfort stop across the road too. The bakery cabinet is big with breads through to fried chicken. You can eat in or take a bagged lunch. After a number of visits, I feel able to recommend the pies, some unusual spring rolls and some of the sweet pastries, such as the custard twist and squares. However, I would not go for the apple tarts and custard tart - pastry is too thick. Nor would I suggest the apple strudel - not enough apple, dry flaky pastry. We will continue buying our lunch here, mainly for the pies.

Food OK, nothing special about it. Noisy location. Lacks ambience. The staff lacked any sort of enthusiasm.

Over the years we have visited this business under several owners and names. 'Donna' has been owned by the present operator for about fifteen months. We enjoyed an excellent coffee and a tasty croissant. The cabinet food wasn't extensive in range, but there was a blackboard menu as well. Happy to resume stopping here on trips north. Very pleasant owner whom makes good coffee. Note: Cafe also does a sideline in recycled clothing.

We have been here a couple of times now and never been disappointed. The fish is so fresh and they cook it to perfection. We would say it's the best fish and chips we have tried in the north. It's a must go to for your fish and chip cravings. The staff/owners are lovely too.
