Michael's on the Hill is located within a circa 1820 farmhouse, picturesquely set on a hill, with breathtaking views of the Green Mountains. The restaurant can comfortably seat 84 guests, and has a full bar with a piano lounge and outside porch available for dining. We boast a large enclosed wrap-around porch dining room (with a view from each table) and a beautifully renovated barn room where guests may dine in luxury, all the while being reminded of the history of the barn. Michael's on the Hill emits a sophisticated charm without the pretentious attitude so commonplace in a restaurant with fine food. We offer locally driven, innovative European cuisine and a welcoming, refined atmosphere. When it comes to elements as vital as flavor, taste and preparation, a great respect for the ingredients must exist. As we believe, a chef's ego should never outshine the true stars, the ingredients. Our dishes are innovative, flavorful and fresh, focusing on local ingredients, and created in a European style. The evening always turns Michael's on the Hill into a romantic, warm, and festive atmosphere for guests to enjoy dinner expertly created by Chef/Owner Michael Kloeti. All dinners start with a warm, linen-wrapped sourdough baguette, sweet butter, and a bowl of marinated olives. Whether sitting near the fire, or on our grapevine-surrounded porch, guests are enveloped in a pleasing comfort, while enjoying the piano and personalized attention. Come for a visit, and allow us to share conversation, hospitality and a bit of home.
Going to Michaels is always a part of our annual ski trip to Stowe. If your driving from Burlington its a logical stop for a fantastic meal! Upscale but still very family friendly (including a delicious kids menu). Wine selection is superb and the ambiance is special no matter where you are seated. Service is always good. Order the calamari if get a chance!

Located within an active Amtrak railroad station, this Green Mountain Coffee Café is in a very quaint place in beautiful Waterbury. The café and store offers a snack bar type menu, consisting mostly of assorted baked goods. They also sell Kurig coffee makers and Green Mountain coffee in single or packaged quantities and related accessories. Some flavors are available to sample.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. A great place to visit for a cup of coffee and snack.

THE bagel shop in Waterbury. It's very popular, a great place to pick up a mediocre but quick bagel and a good cold beverage selection.

We celebrated a special occasion here. The staff acknowledged the occasion in greeting us, and had a special card greeting us at our table, and was very solicitous asking if there was anything they could do to make our event more special. We ordered simple dishes, which were fresh, local, and well prepared. This place is crowded, loud, and expensive, but the food is very tasty and we felt well taken care of.

So this trip its just the little gift shop and coffee ordering/check out stand. All the people there were super friendly and egar to help. We both got iced coffee drinks, my husband got a iced Hazelnut Latte, he thought it was a little too sweet. I got a blended frap type with maple sweetener topped with whip cream, very yummy.
There are table and chairs inside and out to enjoy your drinks, they had some baked goods that looked out of this world, but I hung in there with just the drink.
We sat inside and enjoyed our drinks while checking our devices.
One of the gals there told us the plant was right behind them on the other side of the railroad tracks. We drove back there on our way out and sure enough they had multiple buildings there, took some pic's and continued our day. They told us that for insurance reasons they do not give tours of the manufacturing facility.

The Apple Core Luncheonette and Brew is the newest addition to Cold Hollow Cider Mill nestled in the Green Mountains of Waterbury Center, Vermont. We specialize in a variety of lunch options including wraps, salads, grilled Panini's, kid-friendly items, and cold sandwiches served on your choice of homemade white or sweet potato wheat breads baked fresh daily. We also use in our menu an all-natural line of deli meats, organic greens, and provide a gluten-free garlic flatbread option. Following the Vermont way, we incorporate many local products and seasonal produce to help boost local commerce. While you are here, have a local craft beer or hard cider with your meal. We also have a beer store with over 60 local Vermont beers or hard ciders that you can take with you.
We had been to Cold Hollow for cider and doughnuts many times and always had a great experience, and we had also stopped by Apple Core for a wine tasting - but we had never stopped in for lunch. We were a little leery when we saw the cop directing traffic in and out of Cold Hollow, we were just three among hundreds of people taking advantage of the beautiful fall day. We were even more nervous when we saw the bus in the parking lot, but we were very glad we decided to brave the crowds for lunch. The sandwich & salad selection is fresh and delicious. We each did a flight of ciders, which we felt a little guilty about because they took forever to pour, but it was worth it because they were excellent. The service was quick and friendly, and they have an easy and clear numbering system. There’s patio seating overlooking the parking lot, and it’s amazing to see how many people are coming and going. Even running in for cider and doughnuts after a bus debarked - we hardly waited in line, it was very efficient!

While visiting family in Vermont we stopped in for a late lunch. The wait staff was excellent. We share the pretzel bites with 5 people that made good appetizer. I had the Firehouse burger. It was fantastic. Enjoyed eating it, while listed as "spicy" I was able to taste some heat, but I enjoy hot a spicy food, others may think it hotter. My wife had the Vermont burger, she enjoyed so much she finished it all. (That is a compliment!) Also, get the fries they are wonderful.

After 17 years of being semi-retired and more than that running this very special business, John is retiring and closing the store. BOOOHOOO. His knowledge of teas and how to prepare them and the assortment of offered teas in his special blue tins, will be lost.
Get there quickly. All will be closed before the end of July. He is closed on Monday's.
