Under new Ownership extremely disappointing compared to the previous owner. The food was very poorly presented and lacked the flavour and taste of Thailand the only flavour was extremely salty lack of vegetables. Service only average. Would never go back again one of the worst Thai meals I have ever had total waste of money.

We stayed in Waihi for 4 nights and chose to eat here for our last night, and we definitely saved the best til last!
Everything, from the decor and ambience, to the waitress and service, to the food and wine was pretty much perfect.
We had satay chicken to start, and would have gladly eaten 4 times as much! Not because it wasn’t enough, but because it was without a lie, the most delicious satay sauce we have ever tasted. Totally recommend!!
For mains we had the fish of the day, and a duck breast dish, and these too were beyond our expectations. The depth of flavour was amazing and the care gone into the dishes was so obvious.
Pudding was a liquorice dessert which we shared, and wished we hadn’t! One each would have been the way to go!
The price was fair for the quality of food. Meeting the chef afterward was a treat and the humbleness and like ability of the staff ensure we wish them nothing but the best.
They reached, and outdid our expectations and I would be more than happy to eat here time and time again. Thanks for the tasty evening and adding to our holiday memories. :)

Stopped by for lunch, only one spare table and luckily they managed to fit us in. The place is up a steep incline just off the main road. Not particularly well signposted but what a surprise, the food was amazing. Well worth a visit.

A family restaurant with a large menu with a good choice of different food. Set up for large groups but with the option of private dinning
Our friends and family and selves visit Kava regularly. The food is consistently good, as is the friendly service. If you like mushrooms, try their creamy ones.... Mmmm mmmm! The hours here are very good and the kitchen is always open. Love this place! ?

The Estate is in the heart of the Karangahake Gorge. It is only 200 meters from the tunnel portal of the main walking/cycle trail and has its own access from there. It could not be easier. The Karangahake end of the Gorge offers fantastic tracks, many of them loops of differing lengths. There is a huge amount of history and scenic attraction in the area and the winery and restaurant are a well-deserved treat. Karyn, the chef, prepares wonderful gourmet food, which complements Horst's lovely range of wines. The summer garden setting is relaxed and peaceful and a wonderful interlude between walking or biking. In winter there is an open fire. Platters, full or light meals are available
Recommended to us by visitors to our area, we decided it was time we checked it out for ourselves. We were not disappointed. Food and service were top-notch. Prices were average for a boutique venue such as this. We enjoyed our meals with a lovely bottle of wine, before completing the Karangahake Tunnel Walk. Will recommend to others and return ourselves when looking for somewhere a little special to share with family & friends.

Waikino Station Café is situated in the historic railway station, we stopped there whilst we went on a return train journey using Goldfields Railway from Waihi. There is a wide range of food to choose from and all reasonably priced, the café was busy due to a whole train load descending on them but was always popular whenever we drove past. A lovely café close to Victoria Battery and Tramway.

Despite driving through Waihi regularly had never noticed this place until discovering it on TripAdvisor. For us its a perfect spot to tank up on caffeine en route to the Bay of Plenty from Coromandel. Its a cute and quirky little gem of a place which seems to combine old school traditional coffee shop with funky modern cafe vibe. We had heard about the wonderful home made pies and sadly not able to sample due to being gluten free..they looked amazing though!
Great and varied range of home made counter food.
Coffee was hot, strong and super-fast, gluten free treats quite delicious and atmosphere cosy and busy (obviously very popular with locals)
Will certainly be stopping off here again and spreading the word to family and friends :)

Ti Tree Café and Wine Bar is set in a former miner's Cottage in Haszard Street and was built in 1888, inside there are various rooms all filled with artwork. We stopped off for morning coffee and it was a unique place for a pit stop and worth a visit whilst in Waihi.

Yum, yum, yum. The meals at this pub are delicious. They had a great selection, our group of 4 all ordered different meals and each one was enjoyed. The service was really good. Ended up watching a rugby game on the comfy sofas.

Stopped in on our way to Auckland for breakfast. Nice little place. Service was functional but not friendly. Coffee was very good. Unfortunately my Eggs Benedict was not. It would have been really good apart from the eggs were badly cooked - I know the yoke should run a little but even the egg white was running everywhere and 90% ended up left on the plate. I needed a spoon or a straw.
The Jam with cream and jam my wife ordered was good but serving the jam in a pull back takeaway tub was interesting. Suck a good opportunity to serve up some local jams has gone missing. Prices were very reasonable.
