We had hired a tour guide and he recommended this place for lunch. What a surprise. It didn't look like much, but the food and prices were good.

In the core of the sunny island of Hvar, in the small village of Vrisnik, there is the family run tavern Vrisnik. Its domestic ambiance and friendly humoured staff will make you wish to return each and every time again. Its blend of pleasant atmosphere and rich offer of Dalmatian cuisine, prepared in the traditional manner, will make your gastronomic experience memorable. Besides the wide choice of Dalmatian dishes, the Vrisnik Tavern offers you also grilled fish and meat specialties, various meals baked under the lid and homemade sweet delicacies, prepared by ancient family recipes. While enjoying the tranquillity of this place and the unique sound of the fire crackling in the heart, you will feel the scents of some ancient times. Welcome and enjoy your meal!
Overall, our experience with restaurants on the Dalmatian coast has been subpar. Usually basic fare, not creative at all, and quite often dubious quality and quantity at inflated prices. The goal seems to be just to rip off tourists without any regard for repeat business. Konoba Vrisnik is an exception, at least in terms of quality of the ingredients and the effort by the owner and the chef. I'd give it 5 stars if graded on a local curve, but 4 stars here for consistency when compared more broadly.
This is not haute cuisine, but well executed Mediterranean fare. The meats and fish are carefully selected and prepared in a simple, yet very tasty fashion. I strongly recommend calling a day in advance and asking what's the best and the freshest for baking "under peka" and order it. Octopus is probably the choicest delicacy prepared this way. Drink the great local wine, especially Plavac Mali (a cousin of Zinfandel/Primitivo).
The setting is inland, but very nice, especially around sunset. Because it is a bit out of the way, the prices are more reasonable, too. Most guests are seasoned Hvar visitors with very few accidental tourists, which one has to like. Members of our party knew the owner, so the service was great, but I can only hope that the same treatment is given to all-comers.

My Wife and I rent a bike and cycle from Stari Grad to Jelsa, during our trip we stop by at Vrborska and have lunch at Restaurant Lem. The restaurant is just in front of the Bridge and has great views to the port. It was half full when we went there at 1pm, which is pleasant surprise to us as everywhere in Hvar is full. We ordered 2 soups and 2 mains, the food was really delicious and big portion, my Wife loves her green noodles with scampi and I love my vegetarian risotto Lem, it is the best food I had at Hvar!! Anyone visiting Vrborska should try this place!

Mark from the boat hire recommended we try here as we fancied pizza - he was spot on they are delicious and although we ordered small they were still huge, couldn't finish them. The staff are pleasant and the prices very reasonable. We sat upstairs on the Terrace and took advantage of the beautiful view of Vrboska

We came here as we were recommended by locals to choose this one, to be honest there aren't many restaurants in Vrboska We came here to eat while watching the England VS Iceland game at the Euros at the fact England lost made our night even more miserable.
Food:
The food was ok but nothing special, I was told the fish would be amazing here as its just next to the port and the fish is very fresh. I took some seafood but it was average as mentioned. My friends didn't seem impressed either.
I paid 15£ for seafood and beer.
Staff/service:
Staff were nice, spoke English and the menu was available in many languages.
Service was fairly rapid but then the restaurant was empty.
WIFI available.
Location/Atmosphere:
Located a little outside the main square of Vrboska on the road to Jelsa, its pitched up with a view on the port and the sea which is nice. On this occasion the restaurant was pretty empty. They also have a Lobster fish tank which is pretty awesome.
CONCLUSION: I don't really recommend but it's practical to eat here, I don't think I would come back.

I agree with other reviewers that this is the best Vbroska. It is on the main harbour road just around the corner (100 metres) from the main shopping and restaurant. Head for Jelsa and you can not miss it. There is also the sign to help guide you there.
We thought fish was the best option here (we had the mixed fish plate for 4). Others in our party had steak which was fine but we recommend the fish. Peka is available (although we did not try it as it has to be pre ordered) and although we did not try, the lamb looked well prepared. The Service team were helpful and efficient and the beverage options were good.
The liqueur at the end of the meal was a nice touch.
So if you are staying in the area or just visiting, check it out.

Dear guests, the history of tourism and hospitality in the Barbic family dates back to 1972 when our grandparents, Kristo and Vinka Barbic, welcomed their first tourists. After them our parents Davor and Vilma Barbic cherished tradition of this work for many years as honorable and honest people. Today, after more than 40 years, the two of us brothers, Krišto and Grgo Barbic, with the help of our parents and the support of our families, strive to provide you with as better service as possible. Although the times are modern, as are we, we still respect the tradition. Feel comfortable and well received in our family restaurant!
If you would like to combine trip around the island and good food this place is for you. Located outside from the main tourist spots nearby Zavala this place offers really nice food at affordable (cheaper) prices than in Hvar.
We had pizza, pasta with shrimps and seafood, and pasta with truffle. Pasta was really delicious, homemade and fresh. Smell was fabulous, you can tell it is different right away and that it`s not from the freezer. There is a beach few steps away so you can enjoy it as well. Zavala is a very small place, there is more to see, but there are lots of winery's so try something on the way home.

I had a nice leisurely dinner here on an early summer evening (7 pm). The restaurant was not very busy and I was seated right away. I had the grilled grade 1 fresh fish served with grilled zucchini, peppers and eggplant. I am unfamiliar with how croats grade their fish but the grade 1 I had was very fresh and tasty. I have to say that as good as the fish was, the star of the meal surprisingly was the lovely chargrilled veggies. I also had the white house wine which was okay, as well as a tall glass of elderflower drink which was sooo very good. Ask for extra ice to make it super refreshing!! I really liked my server too, a young man who conversed with me in English. All in, I would recommend this place and I expect I shall be returning over my stay in Hvar.
