We walked to this restaurant from the Casona de Amandi hotel down the road. It seems to specialize in barbecued food but, as always in Spain, nothing is quite as it seems when it comes to interpreting the menu. You'll need a good understanding of Spanish to get a meal that you fully understand how it is served. It is also expensive.

La Ballera offers good food, very tasty and quite typical asturian.
The athmosphere is basicaly local people, it is a plce that I would recommend in terms of food.
Be aware that as a very typical and basic sidreria, it is noisy and it is not a restaurant. Expect to be seated next to where they poor the sidra.
This is normal in a Sidreria, but this is the only downside if you don't like the style, otherwise good food, good service and good price.

We sampled a fish we'd never heard of, a Virrey, or Rey, and it was superbly cooked and beautifully served, with crisp like potatoes, together with a lovely Albarino wine, followed by the most chocolatey profiteroles ever! A perfect conclusion to our wonderful holiday.

Sampled the menu del día earlier today. At 9 euros for 3 courses this is tremendous value. I had seafood soup (very good), fabada (excellent - best I've had in fact - the bloke next door advertises being the no 1 in the world at fabada so I can only guess at how good his is!), then picadillo with fried egg and chips. Being a complete lightweight I couldn't stomach much of the last dish which alone would have constituted a hearty meal for me. Recommended.

Have been here a few times and always enjoy the food. The Menu Del Casa is great value and the seafood platter is great. Good views over Tazones from the resaurant. Can sometimes get very busy so might be worth booking a table. The outside...MoreMuchas Gracias por su opinión.

Recommended by a close by rural hotel when we asked for a local place to dine. Greeted by a very casual local bar atmosphere outside and being very early (8:30pm) we were uncertain what awaited, but it was worth it. Classic Asturian menu with real cider pouring. The chef came to apologise when one of the dishes was unavailable (fabada). The goat was simply divine, the best I have had and the cachopo was really tasty and fun. We wish we could go back, it was inexpensive, inviting, well cooked, and the service was from the heart. You can't get this in many places. A highlight of a month long food tour of Spain.

Los Llaureles Restaurante and Rural Hotel is a hidden jewel near Asturias (Spain) that is well worth a detour or even a special trip. Located in rural green hills, the exquisitely-restored and tastefully decorated farmhouse immediately impresses the guest. The owners are welcoming and attentive to any need. The accommodations are private, comfortable, relaxing, clean and the decor includes local art and charm.

My husband enjoyed the chef's spring tasting menu. Seated comfortably next to a blazing fireplace, we enjoyed watching daylight turn to evening with a view of nearby horse pastures and hillside Forests as our dining adventure unfolded. Chef Carlos Gallegos and his staff presented course after course of imaginative, beautiful and delicious food featuring local specialties of the season paired with wines. Some of the courses included homemade potato chips drizzled with chocolate and anise, marmalade of jamon, spinach and strawberry salad, tuna with avocado sauce, skewered coconut shrimp with dipping sauce, seafood crepes, seafood soup with melon and shrimp. The food was not only delicious, it was a visual work of art. Each course seemed to exceed our building expectations. When we were completely sated and thought we could not eat one more bite, we were tempted by a delectable dessert. The menu changes with the season and special event menus are offered throughout the year.
The chef prepares the food in a spotless, modern kitchen filled with windows. Guests can view kitchen preparations from the adjoining view deck while sipping an afternoon glass of wine.
The food is not served with a stuffy or condescending attitude. Chef Carlos prepares the ultimate of fine dining and he serves it with the genuine desire that his guests relax and enjoy their meal. We could feel his love and his passion in the food as we ate.
I have eaten in upscale restaurants and aboard 6-star cruise ships around the world. I have never eaten such a beautifully presented, delicious meal in my life. I learned of Los Llaureles Restaurante and Rural Hotel from a personal recommendation and now I look forward to my next opportunity for a longer visit.

First rate materials perfectly cooked. The shellfish was wonderful - especially recommend the almejas fritas- perfect. My personal favorite was the rodaballo which was probably the best I ever had! Perfection! Nice outdoor Terrace also adds to the appeal of the place. Highly recommended.Muchas Gracias.
