We picked this place while staying along the road at the Hotel Prunelia, mainly because we couldn't find anything else which was open and looked suitable for children.
The staff had no English, which is part of the charm of rural France, so we got by using google translate to explain what a vegan eats. To their credit, although the waiter looked fairly dumbfounded at the concept, what I got was pretty good. The (veggie) kids got by with a veggie pizza as well which was good. Can't fault the wine either.
Atmosphere was fine, it was pretty hot (no aircon) in the conservatory with a nice view of the road outside . . .

Touring the area on motorbikes it had rained none stop all day and was pouring down as we set off on foot to eat when we arrived we were told they were fully booked but they then took pity on us and fitted us in. The meal was very nice and excellent value service was first class. So enjoy if you are in the area it is well worth the visit

The restaurant was recommended to us by the B&B owner! The food selection was varied and fresh! The owner even fixed a vegetable salad for one of our group. Excellent food and fair prices. I do recommend this restaurant for visitors to Verdun!!

A great place and on a wet Tuesday it fitted the bill perfectly. The owner from Brittany delivers a very authentic crepe, with a wide range of savoury and sweet choices.
He speaks very good English and was very friendly and helpful, even delivered a round of Mirabelle Eau de Vie's to our table on the house.
All dishes were freshly prepared with fresh ingredients and nicely served.
There's also a great range of ice creams on offer too. The very modern décor is not my preference but the food and service were very good so no complaints form me.

Although it's still in the city itself, this restaurant isn't "centrally located", but it's definitely worth making the effort to come to this restaurant.
The portions are generous, the cuisine truly authentic and the slate board menu is seasonal, which means the kitchen only works with the freshest ingredients.
Although the standard menu offers the classics like omelette, steak and fries, pasta etc, I recommend going with the slate board recommendations and taking a menu is great value for money. The portions are generous and the food incredibly delicious. Why settle for steak-frites when you could have, say, rabbit in wine stew with mash like we did?
The restaurant sources its bread from a reputable local bakery and the service was really good. When I noticed a little bit of sand in my salad, I signaled to the staff who promptly rectified the dish with apologies from the chef. Later to make up for it, we were offered a little tasting of the restaurant's homemade mirabelle ice cream.
Wine list small but appropriate.

This was the last restaurant we could book on a Saturday night, as all the others in the area were full. We had à la carte dishes instead of the set menu, and were very happy with the quality of the fish we chose, which was fresh and still at a decent price. The service was friendly and timely, nothing was rushed nor did we have to wait for too long. A tad more expensive than other restaurants in the area, but good value.

I organised a group booking in May and feedback from the group was excellent with the general view that La Gargoyle has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with excellent food and attentive staff and offers great value for money. There was a family feel about the restaurant and nothing was too much trouble. Able to accommodate our large party , the local cuisine was excellent and plentiful and was served piping hot to all. If you are visiting the region I would highly recommend the La Gargote. Be aware that the menu is in French and communication for a non-French speaker can be challenging, however, do not let this deter you from visiting this lovely restaurant. From my point of view as the organiser, I liaised with Dominique, who throughout the process was really helpful and a real pleasure to deal with. Thanks so much for catering to our group and should the opportunity arise again we will definitely use La Gargote again.

We were at this restaurant for lunch on August 4th. You can choose the menu of the day (7,5 €) or entree, main course and dessert (12 €). There are different choices for entree, main course and dessert. We parked our car on the parking lot of the Citadelle Souterraine (about 300 meters).

First we only came to get some bread in bakery but after seeing all the selection of pastry and cakes we couldn't resist to have some.
We don't speak any french but staff was very helpful.
They do a lot of sandwiches, panini and other food.
Good atmosphere. Highly recommended.

In the mood for a change from traditional.French fare then Le Kashmir will fit the bill. Wide range of dishes entrees and mains with typical Indian dishes.....samosas,Onion Bhajis, pakoras, tikka masalas and tandoori dishes, mains included biriyani's, curries of varying strength and a range of naan breads, shapatis and usual accompanyments.
Service was polite and efficient and the food presented well, with good sized portions.
Easily recommend this place and at 30 euros per head we ate very well with beers and wine included - Worth a visit.
