My wife and I went there for dinner. The service and food were excellent. The site is modest but clean and comfortable. Prices are very reasonable. For some odd reason, they do not have French fries at when we had lunch there on an earlier occasion, and I miss that. I recommend the roast beef dinner.

I attempted to go inside to purchase an ice cream roll for my husbands birthday, and the entire frozen case was blocked by teenagers "visiting." They weren't ordering food, nor did they have anything in or near them to show they had ate. They were simply talking to an employee.
I said "excuse me" probably 3 times and they refused to move so I could get to the frozen case so I left.
I then went through drive-thru and tried to purchase the cake. No such luck. I was informed they had to be purchased inside. I examined that I had tried and was told, and I quote, "too bad."
A few years prior my sister in law and I went to local businesses for donations for a benefit auction for a young man who was dying. This DQ was the ONLY business that refused to donate so much as a free bag of fries. I vowed then and there they would never get another nickel of my business.
Stupid me went back. Lesson learned.

We visited on July 3rd. They failed to plan properly for the holiday crowed. We waited for a table for nearly 45 minutes after being told it would be 20-25. It appeared there were only two servers. We ordered 2 buckets of Modelo but they didn't even have enough in stock for 1 bucket... They were out of limes so we had none for the 3 types of beer we had to order to get 2 full buckets. Requested Dos Equis Lager but received Amber. Order water with lemon and didnt recieve the lemon. Order beef and bean nachos and they made chicken and beef instead. Order queso and chips for the table 3 times before we received any. Didn't get drink refills until we were ready to leave. Food was so-so. I don't recommend.

The service was great, the drinks were kept full and the food was typical for every home town dive I have ever visited. There was nothing wrong with anything, but nothing really stood out either. We will try this restaurant again sometime and try something different before we rule it out completely.

Loved this restaurant. I had a Cobb salad it was really delicious. My husband had shrimp and he was very pleased. We ordered desserts the double chocolate cheesecake and the raspberry cheesecake. Both were good. The restaurant was decorated in sports memorabilia. The staff was great, very attentive. Will return again next time we are in Union.Missouri.

We had to drive through Union for a family event and needed to grab lunch. Having lived here before we went back and fourth over our options a few times and settled on El Tapatio.
Honestly there's nothing out of the ordinary here, reasonably priced Americanized Mexican food. The menu has your usual local Mexican fare, tacos, burritos, etc. I've ate here several times and never had a bad meal.
It's always clean and the service is always prompt and friendly. I'd give it a 5 if it just did something to break it out of the stigma of being just another Mexican restaurant.

The day of the old-time diner - or in this case a reasonable replica of one - serving a large menu of diverse items while a fog of smoke settles on everyone and everything is over. We felt sick the rest of the day after sampling the fare here and being subjected to a nasty stink we didn't expect. Never mind that the chicken and fish and fries looked okay. Basic but okay. Never mind that the service was okay. The extra smoke effect added was not from hickory but from discount cigarettes and ruined the visit. We won't return until this place sensibly enters the 21st century and bans smoking. There is nothing quaint about an unhealthy environment. Plus (sorry to say it) nowadays the people who are doing the smoking are not necessarily the people one wants to rub shoulders with. After all, they're the types who don't care that their fouling your air.

I've not had a ton of their sandwiches, but I've had several flavors of wings and salads. I love everything I've tried. Just when I think I've found my go-to wing flavor, someone lets me try one that they ordered and it's just as good. It's now my go-to lunch spot - mostly because now I crave their wings and homemade Ranch dressing. I see people commenting on service being hit-and-miss, but it's always been fine to me. Especially for being just a good sandwich shop - I'm not expecting five-star service. My drinks are filled, my food is served quickly, and they always bring anything I ask for. It's not the cheapest food around - your lunch will be around $8, but it's just fine for lunch and tastes great.
