We were in Thurso on a Thursday and stopped in here around 6:30 without a reservation. Had a table we could have. Enjoyed duck and venison for our main courses. Desserts looked interesting, but we decided to skip. Service by Amy was attentive. Not much open here at night.

Visited the Tempest Cafe whilst out walking. We waited some time for our coffee and snack and when it arrived it was disappointing. The waitress was thoroughly miserable and overall the cafe did not seem particularly clean. Would not go out of my way to visit again

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Great local knowledge feedback from staff. Food was outstanding and fresh. Restaurant was spotless and lovely views of the harbour. Good Scottish fare on offer. Local seafood served. A must visit when visiting the area or perfect spot for onward journeys to the other Scottish Islands further afield. The rolo cheesecake is to die for. 10 out of 10

Seafood
were at the restaurant on our way to The Orkneys. Extremely friendly welcome. Very good kitchen. As the choice on the menu card was difficult, as so many good things available, wanted to have two starters, which was no problem at all. They made the second starter a little bit bigger, but not as big as a main course. Really a delight !

A Sunday carvery which is just awesome . There was a choice of 5 meats all cooked very well . The choice of veg was mind boggling tho some I think from frozen . The food in general was very good and 3 course carvery was unbelievably good value . The place was so busy I'd recommend booking a table as I o my got in by skin o my teeth .

A quaint restaurant located in the heart of the highland town of Thurso. Family run establishment serving locally sourced meat and fish produce. We offer USB charging points near most tables and superfast fibre wifi throughout, fee of charge.
On a windy, wet night and a part going on at the hotel we contemplated the flowing streets and asked the reception desk for a recommendation. Le Bistro. No hesitation, no pause to reflect, just, Le Bistro. Brollies up and away down the street to the steamed up windows of a jewel. Plain and simply one of the best little places to eat that we had tried among many good restaurants in the Highlands. We were made welcome by happy and friendly staff, made content with some amazing dishes on both nights and still had lots of cash left when we did. Nothing fancy and maybe even a little funky but rewarding in every way.

We're a burger joint, ice cream parlour, and coffee shop all rolled into one. Here at The Blue Door, you'll find original burgers made fresh with beef from our local butcher; creamy, specialty milkshakes made from our house made ice cream (including dairy-free vanilla); and hot chocolate and espresso-based drinks with some of the best latte art in the north of Scotland!
What a lovely place for a relaxing unrushed lunch. Great burgers and what a choice! I don't like the new fashion for meals in baskets tho, I feel it's not as hygenic as plates which is what they use, and it's quite tricky to get your hands in underneath the burger to pick it up, and my hands are small! Will definately go again though as it's friendly, confortable, unrushed and of course the food is good and reasonably priced.

Recent visit to Thursday thought I'd try a takeaway from Spice Tandoori. Ordered up and was told it would be 20 minutes, it was busy Friday evening so went for a short walk. Came back and meal was ready.
Took it back to my hotel room, can't remember exactly what I had but it was what they call Oriental in these parts meaning mixed meats. All good part from the prawns, normally don't complain about prawns but it was the tiny supermarket type prawns and there were lots of them. I would have preferred one or two decent sized king prawns. The rest of the meat was fine, wasn't too enamoured with the flavour as it was a bit bland but the meal was edible. One good point was that the meal was accompanied by two poppadoms onions & dips.

A little roadside Inn
We stayed here for one night only, on our way to Orkney, but would definitely return if in the area.
This guest house is not OTT, just quietly efficient. Room had everything we need, super-comfy bed, fast Wifi, and the breakfast was just the best.
Would have got 5 stars but we couldn't get hot water at 7.30am - probably too many guests showering at the same time. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Stayed here overnight whilst doing the North coast 500.
Lovely room and although the only view was the fire escape & building next door we didn't mind as we appreciated that there would be rooms set aside for those with pets and you can't have it all. The room was clean, had a massive tv and only up 1 flight of stairs so not too far to take the dog to get outside. The bathroom was very small with only a toilet & very small shower cubicle in (sink in the bedroom just a step outside bathroom door) but again it wasn't a problem for us. The only problem I found was that the fire doors banged so loudly anytime someone went through them so it did disturb your sleep.
Popeye' s bar was attached to the hotel as was the Upper Deck where you had your meals, which was up a flight of stairs. There is a lovely decking area where you could sit outside weather permitting. We had our evening meal in there which was delicious & very good value for money. They were busy & had a function on but we were seated quickly & didnt have to wait long for our food to arrive. We sat at the window & looked at the boats in the harbour which is just a stone throw away. This was also where we had our breakfast and the full Scottish breakfast was huge - I asked for scrambled eggs with mine & think.I must have been given 6!! What a playful - you will not go away hungry!!! Fantastic food & must praise the chef it was plated beautifully. Also must thank the young lad who looked after us at both dinner & breakfast, he was very attentive & polite.
