Family run freehold pub with restaurant serving home cooked food and real ales. Five en-suite rooms available on bed and breakfast basis.
Greeted at the bar by very pleasant ladies, ordered drinks and taken to out table...menus delivered immediately from helpful young waitress, who returned to take our order taking time to point things out on the menu. We ordered, and were served piping hot food in a very short time...the starters as with the mains and sweets were delicious....I have read one or two quite bad reviews.... don't think the reviewers have actually visited The Old Oak as or food was exemplary and will most definitely return.......the Saturday night was one of snowfall the place was really busy..proving the quality, price and ambience is spot on....

Had visited while on holiday few yrs ago.re visited today and not disappointed.Had lovely and plentiful food for lunch and coffess were great. In Arabica the tables are nicely spaced and there is lots of natural light compared to some of the more dark cramped coffee shops in the town.

Plenty to eat with good service, we would have preceded it to be piping hot though. We called in one Wednesday night for supper and a few drinks. They have a bar and the service is good.

Called off for morning coffee and loved the friendly vibe so much we returned for lunch. Delicious homemade quiche, salad and artisan bread followed by multiseed flapjack. Great value and bonus of spotting "Julian" from channel 5's Yorkshire Vet, one of our favourite programs. Great place.

Lovely cosy pub, excellent service, very reasonable prices and superb food. Best Sunday lunch I’ve had in quite some time. Scallops with Wensleydale were simple and scrummy with lovely fresh seeded bread. Roast swaledale lamb was cooked to perfection (nice and pink) with lots of lovely fresh seasonal veg. Black cherry and amaretto Eton mess - omg, just wow! Will definitely be back again, and again.......

Bliss Cafe is situated a short walk from the Market Square heading towards Millgate car park and public conveniences. We are dog and child friendly and offer a warm welcome, table service and serve fresh local produce to order. We supply take out drinks and food and deliver lunches to our local business community. We are Allergen aware and offer a plethora of Gluten Free food including cakes. Also a range of Yorvale ice cream and sorbet. We always have a dairy free cake on offer as well. Our door is wide enough for wheelchair access but sadly we have two small steps up to our loo. We are happy to help you up and down the steps though...... Our wheelchair customers are able to ride straight up to a table and any special requests are met with a smile. Breakfast and lunch is served all day and if you can't manage a cake we do pretty beribboned boxes for you to take home some goodies. A small range of gifts is now available and Bliss has been completely refurbished in January 2016 to maintain our high standards for your comfort. We hope to see you soon

Fish and Chip shop
Had fish & chips in the restaurant upstairs. Lovely food served by excellent staff as we relaxed watching the Market Place hustle and bustle.
There is a lift for the less abled which I understand is accessed round the back of the building. Very clean, in fact the cleanest windows I've seen in a long while!
Thank you for a lovely experience. x

Great atmosphere in a traditional pub. Owner really lovely. We wanted to eat in the bar rather than the restaurant and that was no problem. We found a small table and he found us a better one. We felt really welcome and there was a lovely mix of customers. Thanks for a great evening.
