Temperance is an unincorporated community in Bedford Township, Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a census-designated place (CDP) for statistical purposes. The population was 8,517 at the 2010 census. The Temperance ZIP code, 48182, serves most of Bedford Township outside of the Lambertville area, as well as portions of western Erie Township, southern Ida Township, and northeast Whiteford Township. Temperance was established as Bedford Center in 1859. On December 8, 1884, a post office was established at Bedford Center and was named Temperance with Lewis Ansted as the first postmaster. The name "Temperance" was suggested by the wife of one of the founding land owners, who was a member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. A petition was circulated and the name Bedford Center was changed to Temperance. During the early years of Temperance, the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages was prohibited.

Their breakfast specials are hard to beat. Price is low and food quality is high.
Broasted chicken is juicy and delicious. So are their potatoes and gravy. All their specials are worth trying. Good value for the money.
A regular stop on my eating circuit. Try it and you'll be happy you did.

Just about any favorite ice cream treat can be concocted here. The cones sizes are a little on the (that's a lot of ice-cream) side. They are open early with a small variety of breakfast items and the same for a quick lunch. It's a seasonal operation that stays open till 9 PM.

We were invited to our friends birthday party. Considering the crowd, our server, Sue was very good. The restaurant provides a menu filled with Italian, steak and seafood favorites. I selected the seafood platter (perch, shrimp, scallops and frog legs) which is the best seafood platter that I have had in a restaurant. My wife had one of the several veal dishes and she also thought it was excellent. The restaurant was full so make sure you have reservations. The only drawback was the distance we had to drive, since it is almost into Ohio. It is a little expensive but for special occasions, it is a place to consider and enjoy the fine food and service.

Our family comes here a few times a month and we've never had anything we haven't liked. The Rubens are great and so are the gyro sandwiches. They make delicious homemade soups as well.

Have had pizza from this place for over 35 years and still consistently the best. Nice thin crust, fresh toppings and friendly staff. Love this place!

Toledo's Finest Steakhouse! Established in 1921 and under third generation ownership! Mancy's specializes in USDA Certified Angus and USDA Certified Angus Prime Steaks that are aged and butchered on premise. We are also known for great seafood! We buy the best Foley's Fresh Fish, Alaskan King Crab and Australian Lobster. Also, our steakhouse's atmosphere is filled with mahogany woods, interesting art and Tiffany shades from days gone by.
My wife and I hadn't been to Mancy's in a number of years and decided to go for our anniversary. Pretty mediocre, and nothing special. The waitress was very good and attentive, but the steaks we ordered were not as good as I remember from Mancy's in the past and a number of other restaurants we have been to recently.

My husband and I have never had a bad meal at this Sidelines. The atmosphere is fun, friendly, and entertaining (because of the TVs). There's plenty options to choose from. Appetizers, salads, sandwiches, fish, steak, etc.

Love the food and the prices. The service was and always is amazing. I could not eat all of my meal so it was really two meals for the price of one.

GOOD
- pasta, pork, mashed potatoes and bread were wonderful
BAD
- 65 degrees outside but A/C was on so restaurant was cold (except bathroom, which was toasty!).
- it was 9:30pm, but a friend of the waitress was visiting with her newborn baby & waitress actually came to our table to check on us WHILE HOLDING THE BABY (while her friend sat at the bar)! When we left, waitress was again holding the baby (behind the bar)! There is a time/place for this, and when you're handling food and waiting on customers is the WRONG time. (Would have been a 4 if not for this)
- Pricey! $47.50 with tax & tip: 2 entrees + $2 soup & $2 salad; only water to drink, no appetizers or dessert.
- country music ! Nice, classic Italian would have been SO much more fitting.
MIXED
- gnocchi soup was good but temp wasn't hot enough
- Caesar salad was just ok--probably wouldn't get it again. Croutons tasted like they were from a cheap dollar store box--a real shame, since they could easily make great croutons from their bread.

The regular diner in the area that we often frequent was closed, so my wife and I thought we would try another local establishment. We visited this diner in the early afternoon of mid-week. The diner was not busy. We were quickly greeted and seated; the server took our drink orders, a diet cola and a water with lemon. She brought a regular and diet cola. Then did an opps. A few minutes later, she returned for our order, but still no water with lemon. That got corrected. Our measure of a good diner is to check out breakfast--hard to mess up eggs; or a burger! We opted for the 1/2-pound burger specialties.
The fries were good, but the burgers were a little underdone and served on a stale bun. When asked for a side of mayo, it came in individual server packets. The mustard and catsup were in brand name containers, but we could see the catsup bottles being filled with generic product.
One of the servers asked how everything was and my wife reported that the buns were stale. The response: Oh! That's it.
The restaurant has a nice selection. One of the specialities is rice pudding; after ordering it, I discovered that they were out.
The prices are very reasonable, but as a diner, it falls far short of the tradition. We likely won't return.
