This "maitre-d" guy kept coming up to us during our intimate dining experience and interrupting us, babbling at us. Finally on the fourth time right at dessert was served, here he comes again. at that point we just left, skipping our desserts and left.
He was asking weird questions, such as "why do Americans come here" or something like that. very inappropriate.
i asked our server "Jesus" who the guy was, and he kept telling me over and over the guy "does not work there". funny, but he sure acted like he did, when he seated us.
This is so sad, we have eaten there several times before, and i even left them a previous outstanding TA review, which i have just requested be deleted.
Maybe come here for breakfast, but certainly not dinner when the pesky maitre-d guy is there.
And thanks for totally ruining a $100 meal on a very special occasion for us, not to mention a very expensive hotel night.
NEVER AGAIN!

This is an amazing Mexican bakery, easily found a couple of blocks from the main square. The selection is near endless and the prices are unbelievable!

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food there. My husband and I were there with several soccer players and so everybody's eyes were bigger than their stomachs. The array of food was super good, and the wines also good.
If I ever go back to Tecate, I would be sure to go here again.

Amores is a restaurant inspired by the beauty and treasures of Tecate, the heart of Baja. The restaurant offers a farm-to-table upscale fusion cuisine at affordable prices, teaching the community about local products and healthy foods.
We were lucky to have been taken to this little gem for lunch after a breathtaking drive through the "Rumorosa". At first we were a bit taken aback by the simple yet eclectic decor of this little neighborhood house, but were quickly swept off our feet by the Chefs, the sommelier and the outstanding cuisine!

Las Milpas is located east of central Tecate on the road to Mexicali. The menu is very extensive.
Most orders will serve two people. The chimichangas are great as are the "burros"- giant burritos loaded with meat, potatoes and other goodies. The carne asada is the most tender I've ever had.
This is where many of the locals go.The service is excellent. The atmosphere is friendly and it is open for breakfast and late lunch. I go with friends and we share each other's order. I've been there many times and the quality of the food and the value are hard to beat. Don't expect a fancy place. Free wi-fi was recently added.

Pleasant restaurant and motel. Sparsely decorated. Service good. Had Sunday brunch which had an omelette station, menudo, tortilla and chilaqile station, and assorted buffet dishes (enchiladas, fish, chicken, ribs, beans, etc). They had desserts and many juices for 180 pesos. Mt friend had a ribete steak withe potatoes and vegetables along with a spinach salad. They have a full bar. I had a Margarita that was very good.

You can get some tasty carne asada tacos with fresh grilled meat here. If you're spending the day in Tecate and need some some good cheap eats, this is the place to go.

I've been coming here for many years and have never had a bad meal or bad service. Their birria is excellent and also their posole. Service is good, the only thing I recommend is to ask for fresh condiments when you arrive, just in case they have been sitting at the table for a while.

We've been here several times, just recently for breakfast on Sunday morning and today. Breakfast was delicious both times, tried the chilaquiles. Very tasty, nice portions of all items on plate. Now here's where this place turns into the slowest place to eat. On Sunday we waited over 30 minutes to finally get our good. Today almost an hour. We were just about to walk out when we finally got our food. We were told that the cooking staff is down and plates are coming out slowly. But one hour, it gave us the impression that the waiters were the ones cooking, because they would disappear in the back once we gave our order and later we couldn't get anything extra. Time for the owners yo wake up or everyone will start leaving.

We went on good Friday so needless to say it was packed. we were seated in about 20 min and the food came out slow. Food was flavor was average, typical Mexican seafood cocktails nothing to rave about. Live music was very very loud so dinner conversation was not happening. Wait staff were trying their best but were overwhelmed . The hostess/cashier apologized for the service when we paid so I guess this is not a norm for them.
