We went for brunch. Both of us had the creamy mushrooms with added bacon. Comes with sourdough bread. Staff always friendly and service always good. We shared a caramel brownie which was very good. The cafe was quite busy (Sunday morning) but we did not wait overly long for our order.

Stopped by for lunch, only one spare table and luckily they managed to fit us in. The place is up a steep incline just off the main road. Not particularly well signposted but what a surprise, the food was amazing. Well worth a visit.

The Estate is in the heart of the Karangahake Gorge. It is only 200 meters from the tunnel portal of the main walking/cycle trail and has its own access from there. It could not be easier. The Karangahake end of the Gorge offers fantastic tracks, many of them loops of differing lengths. There is a huge amount of history and scenic attraction in the area and the winery and restaurant are a well-deserved treat. Karyn, the chef, prepares wonderful gourmet food, which complements Horst's lovely range of wines. The summer garden setting is relaxed and peaceful and a wonderful interlude between walking or biking. In winter there is an open fire. Platters, full or light meals are available
Recommended to us by visitors to our area, we decided it was time we checked it out for ourselves. We were not disappointed. Food and service were top-notch. Prices were average for a boutique venue such as this. We enjoyed our meals with a lovely bottle of wine, before completing the Karangahake Tunnel Walk. Will recommend to others and return ourselves when looking for somewhere a little special to share with family & friends.

We have just completed the Hauraki Rail Trail so were keen for some satisfying food. Marie's easily exceeded our expectations with real and fresh food. Servings are large and the salad that comes with the meal is delicious. I recommend meat eaters go for the surf n turf.

Greasy food. And sugary donuts. If you like this kind of things. Nice enough eggs. The waitress is very nice. When I asked for some chili, she offered me some pickled whole chili that her mom made. It was very nice. Thank you.

We had a great coffee; strong, flavoursome. I liked that coconut sugar was also on offer.
The chocolate brownie was huge. My only criticism was that, given the size of the brownie, more cream would have been good. My husband says I should add the chocolate brownie was very yum, lovely and moist.
Quirky decor, we enjoyed looking at the old kitchen utensils, remembering what our mothers had.

My husband and I dined here for breakfast on Sunday. It was lovely! Friendly staff, food arrived very fast. Coffee arrived with the food which I prefer to drink that then eat but that's just me. Loved our breakfast! Lovely end to our weekend away.

We had dinner with friends and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Between us we had Rogan Josh (lamb), Butter Chicken and Beef curry. All tasty and good portions. We also had plain and garlic naan bread which was great. Friendly staff member. Only two items on the menu for dessert though.

This is the favourite cafe of an Auckland friend of mine, so when she visits we always lunch here. Excellent kebabs with delicious fillings, especially the lamb. Good to watch them cook the meat and put it all together, so deftly. Good coffee as well. Nice atmosphere and good service.
