If you want a real experience of Šumava I recommend a walk on foot along the red route from Sušice on Svatobor. You can expect a miraculous spring, snake trail and you may find a treasure. If you like beautiful views, nature, giant tea, great food and friendly people visit this hill. I had an excellent dinner and breakfast with a view from the sky. Thank you.

Around 100km you hardly find better restaurant. Own cow farm, own vegetable garden... Excellent food quality is guaranteed... The only disadvantage is that you always need to have reservation min. 14 days in advance, beucase the restaurant is contantly full. Otherwise great gastronomic experience... I can fully recommend...

Great food for a village restaurant, credit cards accepted. German spoken by some of the waiters. Big portions, as usually is in Czech Republic. Nice choice of local bottled lemonades.

We visited this restaurant during our visit of Velhartice castle. It´s a really beautiful place with a nice background, a nice view, an amazing countryside...
The restaurant looks also very comfotable, friendly... a little bit period restaurant, a little bit modern restaurant.
But meals? Terrible, disgusting, cold... We ordered a trivial chicken steak with potatoes - it was cold, without taste.. Livers with rice? Very easy czech food, but again terrible.
We were disapointed.
It seems to be that the owner of restaurant expect, that we are only tourists who have never come back.
And he is right.

This is probably the best restaurant in the village. Staff can speak English and the menu is pretty modern. Food is well presented and cheap by Western standards, drinks too. Half litre of Pilsner Urquell about €2

Having first seen this place as a tumbledown ruin, which was eventually leveled, we were amazed to see a beautiful timber-built traditional building appear.
We then were taken there by friends to eat!!!
Good hearty traditional Czech menu, in a relaxed friendly atmosphere.
Just what the doctor ordered after a long walk in the hills.
THAT was two years ago, we have since returned frequently on our bi-annual-ish visits to Sumava.
Long may this continue.

We were looking forward to visit this place as we checked the TripAdvisor’s reviews and restaurant’s web site. We found our table, ordered our meal and we waited. And waited. It took one hour for our food to be ready. We were really pissed off. On the other hand, our dishes were delicious, the waiter did say sorry, he gave us two bottles of beer as apologize and gave us a discount. I have to say I didn’t expect something like that, especially in the Czech Republic. How can you be mad at someone who does something like that? I was really surprised. It was a very nice gesture. I would recommend this place to everyone who don’t want to eat typical Czech dishes, as the Czech cuisine is mainly heavy and unhealthy. And the restaurant's interior is really nice, by the way.

Nebespán café is a nice a stylish french restaurant and café with high quality of gastronomy. We have french chef and our own pastry chef. You can also have nice breakfast and we serve delicious café and cakes. In the summer you can eat on the Terrace with nice view to the historical square and Mountains.
If you happen to be to this forgotten country, it is must to visit this caffe. This caffe is superior to most of similar places even compare to Prague or Vienna. Try baked tea, espresso or any of home-made sweets or marmelade. Very nice and friendly service.

My cousin and I stopped here for dinner on a rainy cool night It was before the tourist season and it wasn't busy. We were pretty hungry so we were a little disappointed when after entering the man working said they were done serving food for the night. We asked again nicely if they had anything cold, maybe some bar snacks, he surprised us by saying he could go back to the kitchen and fix us something up. He brought out a couple bowls of soup and a couple options for dinner. Actually a very tasty meal. The sauce on my svicokva was excellent and the dumplings really filled me up. A few locals stopped in and we had some cold beers and shots and then watched the hockey game for awhile. The perfect meal for a cool drizzly day, and good company as well. Nice service!
