Get there by 7am. Pancakes are the size of a medium pizza. Bring a sticker to put on the wall. So much food and so good.

Amangela's Sandwich and Bagel House

We visited at about 1 p.m. on a Saturday. The line was all the way from the counter to the door. It took probably 20 minutes to get to the counter and place our order, and then another 20 or more minutes to get our food. Our lunches arrived without any utensils or napkins; we had to request them at the counter. The sandwiches are very tasty and unique, however, I'm not sure I would wait that long again.

We were visitors to California and had never seen a Vons store before, however we were more than impressed and visited other locations later in the trip. We were looking for chilled ingredients for a pasta dish to eat in our cabin and everything was great, including the wines to go with it!

This is a new place in the Big Bear Valley in Southern California. It is not someplace you will see by driving by as it is in the heart of the Sugarloaf community (on the East end of the Valley), not on a major street or highway, and you will have to come looking for it. First and foremost, this is a bar with pool tables, a prominent hightop bar seating area, and loud music. They also advertise that you can watch various sporting events on their large flat screen TV's. The food was surprisingly good overall but it took forever to get our food and to get any type of service. Part of the problem was that they had one server handling the bar and dining patrons however, the place was not packed so it appears they need more experienced servers and kitchen staff. We may give this place a try again but we will probably wait a while to see if they can get more settled. If you want a quieter meal, I would recommend coming here for lunch as I believe this place will get rather loud with the evening crowd.
