I had the strawberry-pecan salad that was covered with feta cheese and other toppings. Huge pieces of strawberries and the grapes added bursts of fruity flavor. And, oh, their special strawberry dressing made this salad the best I've ever tasted!!

929 has always been the place to go for yummy treats and the best coffee. They have 2 stories which allows room for a crowd. They also employ chefs and bakers for their business-so last month we held our daughter's wedding reception there. The owners helped us with an amazing menu. We hired our favorite bartender and a jazz band . The food was excellent! The staff went out of their way to serve our every need. The owners were polite and made the whole affair easy on all of us! I couldn't have pictured a more fun, cool, beautiful evening for our guests.
Of course I still go back for my yummy treats and the very best coffee !

We have to work hard NOT to go by this favorite ice cream and shaved ice store in town -- maybe our favorite anywhere. I love the Snappy Turtle and Katie's Crunch concretes. My son always goes for shaved ice with watermelon, tiger's blood, and cotton candy. My nephew loves the Strawberryville smoothie, and his mom loves the Little Bubba, which is a modified banana split. Besides great treats, the servers are always friendly, like they enjoy working there. you can even buy a Bop's t-shirt!

I went to get a muffin for Sunday breakfast and was told they are no longer allowed to serve muffins or croissants per an order from corporate. It appears that the other Shipley's don't offer these, so they can't be sold at this location any more. What a bummer! At least the other donuts are still good.

Service is okay - mostly kids working their way through college. Food is tasty but nothing to write home about. Wine list is average. Atmosphere, like most other places in town is university sports oriented.

Great coffee and pastries. Friendly local coffeehouse and a great alternative to the generic Starbucks-on-every-corner. Can order coffee from them online; I recommend the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and the flavored Jamaican Me Crazy.

Some of my friends argue with me, but Strangbrew is for sure my favorite coffee shop in Starkville. It's my favorite place to study-the wifi doesn't cut out and they have couches upstairs! Lots of outlets to plug in your laptop & games if you aren't studying.

The Little Dooey

Fun is a family recipe. Originating in Starkville, Mississippi, The Little Dooey™ has become the most popular barbeque destination in the region, attracting regular, local diners and guests from all over the country. The menu was created around the time-honored recipes and sauces of the founders, Margaret Ann , Barry & Bart Wood. The name for the restaurant is also a Wood Family tradition where “a little dooey” means a fun gathering of friends and family. The Wood’s began The Little Dooey™ in 1985, by serving their homemade barbeque and sauce at a local service station. The response from customers was overwhelming, and soon the growing local demand for their delicious food prompted them to open the first restaurant in Starkville which became an instant success. The Wood’s credit their accomplishments to their family, friends and dedicated staff who set The Little Dooey™ apart, making it a comfortable and fun place to eat. Don’t forget to pick up some sauce! Or, call us to order your favorite.

Our daughter had us stop here for the best barbecue and ribs (plus we were paying so she could get the platter!). Great place for homemade barbecue, quick service, and fun atmosphere. Prices were inexpensive, there are seafood, chicken, pork and beef options, and lots of sides. The potato salad was great! Worth a visit.

I was introduced to Local Culture about a year ago by my future daughter-in-love. She knew that I loved fro-yo so she asked if I would like to join her. Oh, yeah!

Local Culture is located just outside the campus of Mississippi State University (MSU) and has some delicious frozen yogurt! The variety of toppings that they offer is pretty expansive and amazing!

The atmosphere of Local Culture is pretty sweet, too! It has a very trendy vibe to it. It's a place that you'd just enjoy hanging out and spending time with friends/family.

Needless to say, I love to stop by and enjoy some Local Culture every time I'm in Starkville.
