Whenever we are visiting family in the area we arrange to meet at Mama Maria's for dinner. The restaurant is always busy and the food is good. Their garlic knots are delicious, as are a wide variety of entrees. A favorite of mine is always the vegetable Stromboli, which is large enough to split with at least one other person--entrees are all large. This time we ate outside on the deck in front of their building--it was a wonderful place for our family to enjoy a beautiful evening. The service is always friendly and the cost is reasonable.

The only negative to this place is that it is seasonal. That being said they have more choices of ice cream then you could imagine. If it is warm out you can count on there being a line.

We have recently purchased a second home in Delaware County NY and were thrilled to see that this pub/inn was opening near by. Well, we couldn't be more pleased. It is a very authentic English Pub! We have traveled extensively in Great Britain and it felt like the Bull and Garland was pulled right out of one of those wonderful small towns in the Lake District or something! PERFECT!
We live in Minneapolis and, for those in the know, realize that it's known as one of the greatest restaurant cities in the U.S. So we know a great restaurant when we see, (or taste,) one and Bull & Garland is a great restaurant!
We just made another trip there with one of our Catskill neighbors the other night. We had been telling her about B & G and had been carrying on about how wonderful it was. I suspect she was a little doubting about our food knowledge, but after that evening she is now a believer!!
We filled the table with assorted appetizers and one entree. The "small plates we had were: Scotch eggs, (flawless with softly boiled egg wrapped in delicious sausage,) crab cakes, (light flaky and wonderful,) chicken liver pate, wonderfully rich and served with great toast, "white wings" (I've never had better chicken wings... NEVER! ) Their house salad was delicious as was their soup of the day, a roast squash bisque... on our previous visits we have had their chicken and ham pot pie and we knew what a winner that was so that was "our" entree... I say our entree, however my wife pretty much hoarded that one!
Hobart, NY is "the book capital of the Catskills" and is a charming village. There must be at least six or seven antiquarian book stores along with some regular antique stores, and is in a really beautiful part of the Catskills. If there was nothing else here except the Bull & Garland, it's still worth the drive!!

We stopped in for breakfast with a group of 5 and it was not our first time, but we enjoyed the window seat and the plethora of decorations and funny little signs eliciting a chuckle!
Breakfast was good here again with a good and flexible variety and a good cup of coffee with a smile!
It is a quaint folksy place on the main street of Hobart and readily accessible with quick service and good eats!
Give it a try if you haven;t already and you'll be glad you did!

Whenever we are in the area we try to have breakfast or lunch at The Breakfast Club. Everything from breads to sausage are made from scratch, and the staff are always willing to customize any offering. There are great specials, and plenty of great standard offerings. Our last trip one of us had their corned beef hash, which was wonderful, others had stuffed French toast, various eggs, and pancakes. Everything was exceptional. The quality of the food is well worth a special trip. The food takes time, but it should. We highly recommend this restaurant. It's a very pleasant environment as well.

We are full service restaurant that seats 35. We also provide services for intimate parties and weddings! Please call for reservations and updated menu options!
Nice little place if you find yourself in Roxbury (and if you're lucky, you'll be staying at the Roxbury Hotel next door.) Food is good; though it was better when it had a simpler menu. Service is friendly. Your best bet is the pub menu if available (as I said, they do simpler better.) That said, salads are good and the small plates and appetizers are very good. Have a nice glass of wine and kick back.

Our cheeseburgers were good, and the hand-cut fries were great. Our server was very friendly, but never returned after delivering our food. When we were finished, a different server picked up the slack and asked if we wanted ice cream, and brought our check, but then we had to stand in line at the register for ten minutes to pay, while the cashier did double-duty dishing up ice cream. There must be a better way!

This restaurant has delicious home made marinara sauce and wonderful dishes at very low prices. They offer senior sized and priced portions at lower prices. My chicken parmigiana was only $9. The chicken was cooked just right and the sauce was amazing - tasty but somehow light. My wife had the smaller size portion of rollette which was eggplant for only $9 and she brought half of it home for lunch the next day. Our guest liked her Veal Marsala.

A busy spot but the service is excellent, Friendly and efficient. You will find the decor blah and if you're wanting a restraunt feeling you may be disappointed. This is more like a small dinner feel and not that that's a bad thing ! The food however is what you'll be going back for ! Fish is awesome and the hot lobster and lobster poutin are right up there with the top places to order from in Yarmouth.
