This laid-back beach town on Crete is popular with European travelers. Soft, golden sands and shallow waters make the beaches here especially family-friendly, and there’s a great variety of tavernas, restaurants and bars (including an Irish pub!).

Beach front Location overlooking the sea, you can sit inside or outside, a family run taverna open since 1991, friendly and efficient service with a menu to suit all tastes, including vegetarian menu.
Great food, great staff, and great prices. What's not to like? Ambience perfect, opens right onto beach. Would strongly recommend.

Fine Mediterranean cuisine in a modern restaurant with a beautiful view over Stalis Beach. Also at http://www.facebook.com/anatoliastalidaOur friendly multi-lingual staff look forward to serving you in 2010.
Stuffed mushroom as starter and eggplant as starter the best... also mixed grill is perfect giving you option to choose... example I didn't want burger, they gave lamb chops instead

This taverna is on the western side of the resort of Stalis on Crete. It is called Hellas but may appear under its Greek spelling of Ellas.
Hellas Taverna is a great place to eat, small with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. The dishes are well priced and the food was really nice. For the price of the bill it altogether offered excellent value for money. I would recommend eating here.

Fabulous was the word my daughter used to describe this place. Service was excellent as was the food. Free fruit plate and drink after our meal. Bought a litre of their own extra virgin olive oil for €7. Highly recommend this taverna which we found by accident but are glad we did.

The staff here are really friendly and nothing is too much bother for them.
The menu is a good mix of traditional Greek cuisine and pizza/pasta options.
During our two week stay in Stalis we visited here 3 times with our two year old son.
Great restaurant.

Traditional Greek Tavern/Resturant
Left a 5 star review last year but something seems to have changed.
We ordered exactly the same meals (starters and mains) as last year but every one of the dishes was disappointing.
The calimari was greasy and rubbery, the meat in the stifado was quite tough and didn't fall apart as previously and the roast lamb had a shattered bone. My girlfriend spent most of the night picking fragments of bone out of her mouth.
Really disappointing as we were so impressed last year.
Hopefully it was just an off-night.

My husband and I ate here 3 times during our recent trip to stalis. The food was fantastic, the service fantastic. Jannis and his staff are very welcoming and friendly. At the end of your meal you are given complementary dessert and a drink.

We have spent half a dozen holidays in Stalis. This year revealed clearly how austerity had affected Greek business. Restaurants we knew from previous visits had held their prices but the meals were not as attractive or of such quality as we had become used to.
On our last two nights we ate at Mesoyiako. Similar prices to elsewhere but a revelation in quality. To this was added the family atmosphere and a return to the friendliness that we thought had gone from Greece.
Don't make our mistake. Go here on your first night; you may choose to ignore all the other tavernas.

We visited this restaurant twice during our visit to Stalis and loved it both times.
The food is delicious and I cannot fault the service, the staff were always welcoming and friendly.
The wine there is a little more expensive than other places, but I do recommend trying some of the more expensive Greek wines, we were impressed.
Thank you!
