The city of Sitka, located on Baranof Island along the Alaska Panhandle, was once the capital of Russian America. Nearby Sitka National Historical Park was established to commemorate the Battle of Sitka in 1804, the last major conflict between Europeans and the native Alaskans. The park now helps preserve the culture of the Tlingit people, as well as the Russian and American settlers, with collections of rare artifacts, the preserved remains of the Tlingit fort and a Russian Bishop's House.

Our party of 8 sat upstairs in the Tapas bar. The only main course not available upstairs that we might have ordered was the King Salmon but that did not detract from a fabulous evening.
The clam chowder is exceptional and the well-travelled group thought the scallops were the best ever.
We ended up at about $60 per head which is not cheap but it represented good value considering what we consumed!

Really good iced Americano. My companions had iced and hot brewed coffee and also raved. We arrived at 3:50 (they close at 4) and everyone was still friendly and helpful.
One trick: Your GPS will take you to a plaza with a Thai restaurant and a Subway across Seward from the Westmark Hotel. Highliner is actually around the back of this building (relative to Seward St). There appears to be a drive through, but it is entered from Lake St (I think--we walked).

Our parents recently moved to the Sitka Pioneer's Home and our family has adopted Sitka as the new Center of our Universe. What a blessing to discover the Best Coffee Shop just across the street at the Back Door.
Just incredibly good coffee, pastries, lunches soups. Excellent service, smiles and very cosy atmosphere.

Located at the foot of the bridge in the remodeled VanWinkles space, with breath taking views, free wifi and a dozen charging stations. We are serving delicious thin crust pizzas made with the finest ingredients. You will also find fresh hand tossed salads and Chicken Wings. Food is served very late, see you after the late flight for a bite.
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch...pizza and wings...and were able to use the WiFi and catch up on our communications. If you are hopping off a cruise ship for the day, this is an excellent choice for a meal. The service was really good and we got our meals quickly.

The restaurant provides a shuttle bus which delivers you to the door. Form our table, we overlooked the water and adjacent islands. Our waiter shared his detailed knowledge of the menu and informed us of the special main course. Starting with NZ lamb chop lollipops, we salivated for the main course Alaskan King Crab. It was a monster and sweet and delicious. We were able to finish one leg each and took the third home for lunch the following day.
The restaurant was booked out - not bad for a tiny city like Sitka. The wine list was small but well balanced and well priced.
A thoroughly enjoyable experience. The shared creme brulee sated both of us.

Decent sandwiches, nice soup but For HEAVEN SAKES - given the kind of clientle that frequent places like this - OFFER GLUTEN FREE!!!! We've been here lots over the past month and the Gluten free offerings are "hit or miss". BE Consistant! My significant other ended up with a gluten free bar while the rest of us had the soup/sandwich.
Gluten free offerings are not going away and you're driving business to other establishments.

Locally owned and operated with a focus on quality service. We take pride in having the best possible products available. It's a great venue for events and private parties. Regularly hosts a trivia night, open mic night, and free UFC events. There are many great diversions like Pool tables, Dart boards, 10 TV's, Foosball table, Shuffle board, Ping Pong, free book club, and even classic board games. Located conveniently close to the center of downtown, it is a must stop. There is a gift shop with Pub branded merchandise like hats, sweaters, and pint glasses that make great practical souvenirs. The draft beer selection is the greatest in the entire region. There is 2 bars each fitted with 12 taps for a total selection up to 24 Draft beer options. The seafood is locally sourced. The kitchen loves new specials, but every week you can expect smoked BBQ on Wednesday and Craft your own Mac n' Cheese Thursday night.
We go to the Pub to watch games that we can't get at home. We enjoy the attentive waitstaff and friendly atmosphere. Food is just a step above tavern fare. Tater tots rock! Skip the Turkey chili. Great selection of beer choices along with mixed drinks. Nice array of screens to watch games on and sections where there can be a variety of games running at once without being a distraction. Also, say hello to Maya, the boxer that hangs out in the back. She is a sweetie.

Small Coffee Shop that serves an amazing organic espresso (Sentinel Coffee: roasted in Gustavus) and breakfast goodies, like biscuits and gravy, muffins, and bagels ( from Rising Tide)!!!
This is a tiny coffee shack in the Eliason Harbor parking lot. It's open early and serves great coffee - very friendly and outgoing owner - dog friendly with treats available. It's a must! Thanks for all your support!

If this is the best there is in Shitka, Wow expectations are really low. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. If you come off a cruise ship stay clear of this roach coach. The prices are set to high. Food is bland.

Was a good choice for lunch, friendly service, good menu, reasonable and best of all a departure from our cruise food! Good place to sit and have a slow meal on a rainy day.
