Shan State (Burmese: ရှမ်းပြည်နယ်, pronounced [ʃáɴ pjìnɛ̀]; Shan: မိူင်းတႆး [mə́ŋ.táj]) is a state of Myanmar. Shan State borders China to the north, Laos to the east, and Thailand to the south, and five administrative divisions of Burma in the west. Largest of the 14 administrative divisions by land area, Shan State covers 155,800 km², almost a quarter of the total area of Burma. The state gets its name from the Shan people, one of several ethnic groups that inhabit the area. Shan State is largely rural, with only three cities of significant size: Lashio, Kengtung, and the capital, Taunggyi. Taunggyi is 150.7 km north east of the nation's capital Naypyitaw.

We visited for lunch with a guide and ate in a charming room with 5 or 6 Windows, each offering a different vista. A five-dish vegetarian starter was delicious, our guide explaining that some dishes were time consuming to prepare and would not be found in normal restaurants. We continued with fish curry and salad, which was very good. To drink, we tried avocado juice. After lunch (opening at 14.30), we visited their collection of 32 Burmese cats, splendid creatures who live a life of luxury here.

This review is my thank you to the staff - so welcoming and caring! They made sure I am happy with the food, brought some spray to protect from mosquitos, were fast, polite, efficient and positive. The food is good, the prices are very reasonable. Great place for dinner!

Modern Authentic Chinese Restaurant with Variety Of Dim Sum Options and open 12pm to 9pm,close on every 10th and 20th of a month.
We loved this, would recommend the salt and chilly squid for starters and some of the dim sum. We also had to try the Expresso Martini’s which were on the menu and they were superb too! Highly recommend this place but they do close on 10th and 20th of each month.

We loved Bamboo Hut and had a great meal there, both for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The staff speaks good English and the prices are very reasonable.

Based on other reviews we ordered the banana flower salad, chicken and fish in banana leaf, and the yogurt with honey for dessert. Everything was so fresh and the flavours were rich - stunning really!
Some of the best tasting food I have ever eaten, do not miss this restaurant!
Prices were very reasonable, especially for the quality, and the service was friendly. The owner/chef checked to make sure everything was good, and when we raved about the food she seemed grateful yet humble, but I see from the online reviews that she must get this type of feedback all the time...

We are rarely disappointed eating at #1 rated Trip Advisor restaurants and we weren't this time either. We decided to take a tuk tuk from our hotel (about $10 USD r/t) and it was worth every penny. The view, even at night, was stunning, the food excellent, the portions generous and the owner and his family delightful. If you are visiting Inle Lake, then don't miss Inle Heart View.

I ordered penne with tomato sauce and parmesan and my boyfriend soup and coconut curry something, each with a side drink. My boyfriend finished both his soup and curry, while my food hadn't arrive yet. I was so hungry and disappointed. The waiter was nice and said sorry, at least what I ordered was tasty. For this reason I am a bit disappointed. There were also many mosquitos. My boyfriend said his food was good, but not very good, so maybe you can try going to this place once and see for yourself, maybe your experience will be better. Maybe I was just unlucky...

A cosy restaurant that serves homemade European food, made with fresh and local ingredients. You can finish your meal with a good coffee and lovely pastery.
This is a little off the beaten track but well worth making the effort to go and see. Such a beautiful and peaceful setting which we really appreciated after a couple of days in Yangon! The owner is absolutely delightful and will chat away to you. She makes everything from scratch including her pesto, feta cheese and bread. We had a pizza and pasta with chicken, garlic, sun blushed tomatoes and feta. The pasta was exceptionally good. We washed it down with two freshly made juices. Would recommend to everybody.
