Off the beaten track but a great find in the Pottsville area. Small but very pleasant, clean, and friendly cafe. The food is made fresh daily and was very, very good. Would go back whenever I'm in the area. Only lunch menu. Time open is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They make their own potato chips (yum) and french fries (not frozen).

My son wanted a zombie cake so I designed a very simp,e one. The lady which I am assuming is the owner asked why would you're son want a zombie cake? I asked her if she ever watched the Walking Dead? She said no. I told her that's his favorite show so that's why he wants a zombie theme birthday. She said she didn't think she could do that so I asked is she could do something very sip,e if I bought little peop,e to put on the cake and she did the rest, She said she felt it was to violent and she would not do it. My sons was so hurt and I was to. I never went back to her shop again. I'm his mother and I approve of a zombie cake. It's not violent. There a difference between real and fake. Zombies are fake.

Warm garlic bread was smeared all over... I mean all over on every surface.... with a greasy goo, maybe margarine-maybe not......and it refused to melt. What is this?
The cheerful waitress, who eagerly offered that she has gained a lot of weight working there because everything is so good.......was really pushing the salmon: salmon Caesar, salmon over pasta, salmon this, salmon that...and so on. We ordered Salmon Caesar and the greens were fabulous, but the salmon must have been frozen, thawed and cooked for dinner the night before, or maybe earlier, then refrigerated and left on the counter to come to room temperature, or maybe reheated and left on the counter, because it had that out of freezer improperly frozen flavor, in addition to being overcooked or maybe twice cooked, on top of picking up some hint of something from sitting in the refrigerator next to the leftover asparagus or something, overnight.
But you could tell the chef started with a great piece of fish.
Also ordered, a calzone was quite good, filled with delicious cheeses. It was huge, three times what I would normally eat for lunch. I asked that they take out the ham and substitute eggplant, which they graciously complied and charged me for a Personal Calzone with an extra for Eggplant for $11.60. The tomato sauce in a cup, was very, very good.
I am not sure the waitress correctly attributed her weight gain to 'everything being so good', as it may be because the portions are huge and are full of fat calories......and whatever greasy substance the bread was smeared with.
The place is well designed and looks smart.
I lowered my rating from 'Average' because of the injustice the chef did to the fish. No fish deserves to be treated so poorly.

The place is easy to miss along Rt 61. However, it is definitely somewhere to checkout. Nothing too fancy about the place, some small quirky stuff at most. You food is served fast, tastes great, and you can't beat the prices.
I personally like that it's not a larger diner, or chain. No fooling around. Come in, sit down, order, eat and pay. There is no rush, but you get service. The staff there is great, the place is clean, and it's a good dining experience.

Came here to waste time in between the Yuengling Brewery tour and the Yuengling Mansion tour the other day with my boyfriend and it was a great atmosphere, mostly locals in the bar but our bartender was friendly and helpful. Cool new looking bar with great views. We only got drinks so we couldn’t speak on the food. But a great convenient downtown spot for a drink and dinner.

Plain & Fancy has been around forever. Great donuts and excellent prices keep customers coming back. The only real problem here is the shop itself. The location is somewhat random to begin with, but when you walk inside, you come across a poorly lit, overly outdated, somewhat gross place. Come for the donuts, but don't anticipate a nice location to sit down and eat...

Yes, it is a friendly hometown bar. Some bikers, mill workers, professionals, and retirees. Bar food which does vary by day. Friendly bartenders, free popcorn, except for peanut Thursday. Fair beer menu including Labatt's Blue on tap. I love this place.

Casual Fine Dining, patio seating, catering on premise or off premise. Late nite settings. Bring your own wine accepted. Corkage fee.
We have visited a few times, and we are never disappointed. Good service, and great food. There were 7 of us this trip, and noone left hungry. Portion sizes are just right, and everything was delicious. I had the shrimp and scallop ceviche, and a blackened Delmonico with blue cheese. Very good. Prices are average for the area, and it has a nice, laid back atmosphere.
Will definitely visit again.

Like walking back in time, as soon as you walk in it feels like you're in 1965.
..you see the old fashioned style dining area, some booths and tables with a rack of cards..to choose from while you wait for your dinner.( She had the idea long before Cracker Barrel!) I just found out this place has been family owned and operated more than 37 years! Never knew it was here!!!
Also just found out...you can also get breakfast here all day long!
She has great Cheeseburgers and FRESH CUT French Fries!...I was so glad to finally find one...that is... a place that actually makes French fries the old fashioned way, from the ordinary! The Cheesesteak I bought for my guest looked amazing,
Definitely a good find, nothing fancy mind you...very plain, but very good food and the service is outstanding. If it is not on the menu, she will go out of her way to accommodate you the best that she can. There is nothing to compare to this in the entire region , that includes Friedensburg and all of Cressona.
It's a little hard to get to if you don't know your way around, but just turn there at the light and if you go past her place there is parking right there at the Insurance building and above it, some folks parked at the Church parking lot behind the gas station too.
I had to stop at the Post office across the road from Jeans and the Post Master said she eats there all the time. Two thumbs way up!
