On our way home from Mt. Hood , we were starving and decided a burger sounded good. I am not really sure where the glowing reviews came from, the food was frozen beef patties, frozen fries and dry buns. My sister-in-law had no complaints about her burger, but mine was barely warm, the cheese wasn't even melted and the bacon was undercooked. It was 2pm and i had originally ordered a french dip sandwich(it had gotten good reviews previously), they were out of roast beef, okay a bacon burger would be okay, it wasn't, i sent it back and refused a replacement. As i was sitting there waiting for my fellow diners to finish I watched one of the managers refilling the burger bar( all sorts of condiments to put on your burger), she spilled sauce down the side of the container, wiped it up with her bare hand and then scraped it back into the container with the side of her hand, then "washed" her hands from a bucket of water sitting by the bar. I was very glad i hadn't gotten a replacement burger at that point, if a manager was that careless how was the crew in the back.
Skip Calamity Janes, the place is kitschy , the food is subpar and cleanliness is not a priority.

They have the best lunch boxes. Sandwiches, chips or potato salad, drink and a cookie. Lots of wonderful pastries to choose from. Cute gift shop as well. Love this place.

Great authentic Thai food in Sandy OR. Went there around 3pm after sending our son to his afternoon activity (after skiing in the morning). We were dying for some Asian food after burger and hot dogs most of the week. I think I yelp'd 2 Thai restaurants and 1 Chinese restaurant in Sandy and the wife wanted to go Thai. So we picked this place, and it didn't disappoint.
Since it was 3pm, it wasn't crowded, only 1 other customers sat outside patio. The place is sort of cute, its like a converted house, maybe Thai "Home".... Not a big place inside, we sat down, friendly middle age waitress came by. We ordered pad see yew with beef, seafood with basil (I think) and Thai ice tea. Pad see yew was very good, very moist, soft, and none of the noodles were stuck together, and taste was very good. Seafood was good too. I always put the traditional Thai hot fish sauce with my pad see yew and I wasn't sure if they had it. So I asked for it and they did have it (slightly different than in the LA area but was still good). All in all the food was good and authentic.
When finished we talked to the waitress for a while (maybe she is the owner, I didn't ask). She is originally from San Gabriel in the LA area (of course originally from Thailand), that probably explains why the food was authentic.
We will definitely be back next year when my son comes back to summer ski camp. Highly recommend it.

I was in the area for a couple days and thrilled to find that Sandy has a freestanding Starbucks store. Great location, atmosphere, and service - has everything a Starbucks offers. I like coffee in the morning, and for an afternoon treat their refreshers (valencia orange is my favorite.). It's a healthy refreshing alternative to diet sodas, which I've given up.
This is a nice place to unwind after a day of enjoying the attractions around Sandy with wifi and all the "comforts" of Starbucks. Friendly helpful staff, clean store. Stop on and stay a while, or enjoy your Starbucks treats to go.

Tollgate has always been a solid restaurant. The food was always homestyle good with good personable service. I'm so sad that this is no longer the case. The food is wildly different each visit- you really don't know what will show up. Tired of menu roulette.
There is also a huge turnover in servers- we had several servers that we looked forward to seeing but they moved on to different jobs. There's not the same happy vibe.
We'll go back in a few months and give it another whirl just because it has always been a local favorite.

This new Starbucks is great for all the categories: couples (overstuffed chairs around the fireplace), family, Friends, Business, or solo. The store has a drive through if your in a hurry. The Starbucks products are always top notch. The staff is happy in their new store and that is reflected in the ebullient and prompt service.

I am a big fan of Baskin Robbins. They're a little more spendy than I like, but their flavors are outstanding. And of course, you always know that the quality will be consistent from store to store.
Our B-K in Sandy looks a great deal like most other B-Ks. The staff are friendly and willing to wait while children deliberate over flavors.

AntFarm Cafe and Bakery is a nonprofit organization supporting local community youth in becoming healthy, happy, and more independent. For every dollar spent in the cafe and bakery, youth are engaged and participate in many types of community activities.
AntFarm is an awesome non-profit in Sandy that does amazing work with the youth, including having an amazing bakery and cafe for the kids to work in. I LOVE their chicken salad sandwiches and their breakfast burritos too! Check them out online to see besides the quality of food, why else you want to support this business.
